Mel Gibson may soon be writing one of the biggest checks of his life to his wife.
With no indication that the estranged couple who married 28 years ago had a prenup, Robyn Gibson, 53, is legally entitled in their divorce to half of everything the actor-director-producer earned from their marriage in 1980 to the date of their legal separation: A fortune estimated at close to $1 billion.

Wow, was she worth $1 Billion? No. You can rent women like her for much less, and get a great variety of choices without being burdened with the overhead or baggage that comes with buying.
It's clear what he sees in her. But get a grip, Mel.

Aftr so many years and children. I say good for her.
I usually do not but considering that she stood by him for so long and he is being a peen, good for her. She will still have the kids.
He may loose his half to the first gold digger he knocks up. Then his kids will have nothing.

Ya need to post a pic of Mel. He is looking more than just rough these days. The years are not being too kind. It seems like there is an awful lot of money for both Gibsons to share. You would think though that after 28 years the marriage would be pretty ‘solid.’ Pity.

Their finances are the in the stratosphere...so I don’t think, when mom and dad share 1Bil that anyone comes out living in the poor house.
They only have one minor child, a son; and the others are all grown (and no doubt working in dad’s production company or some such enterprise). I wouldn’t fret the finances of any of this bunch...

I believe you are correct...midlife crisis, meets substance abuse meets the Passion. Not a good mix. Throw in some anti-semitism, a DUI, a wife whose not 20 anymore...recipe for...TABLOID FARE!!!

Yes, I agree. He was great, and looked normal (and purty darned good....) in We Were Soldiers, and he did Passion and also Apocalypto and since then he has behaved strangely and his appearance has changed. Perhaps the stress and the pressure from being involved in these three movies with such emotionally overwhelming themes took its toll?
Perhaps it is some kind of drug/s or some kind of psychosis, but I am not surprised that his wife is divorcing him. He has changed and she would be the first to tell you.
To: Swede Girl
Yep. She has been through infidelity with him before, this is something different and this is something she could not live with — and probably didn’t want their young son to live with, either. He has almost become psychotic, you can see it in his eyes when he’s interviewed, this is not “the” Mel Gibson of old... he was mischievous and happy go lucky, this man is demonized.
