Office of the Vice President ______________________________________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 23, 2009

VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN ISSUES STATEMENT ON ACTING COMPTROLLER GENERAL GENE DODARO’S TESTIMONY AT HOMELAND SECURITY AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS HEARING

Vice President Biden issued this statement following the testimony of GAO Acting Comptroller General Gene Dodaro at this morning’s Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs hearing:

"From the beginning, we committed to not only work at record speed to provide immediate economic relief under the Recovery Act, but to do so with unprecedented accountability and transparency. As part of that commitment, we have been working with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) which has been charged with conducting detailed oversight of spending of Recovery Act funds at the state level.

"Last week I met with GAO Acting Comptroller General Gene Dodaro to receive an update on their oversight efforts and this week my staff met with the staff of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs to discuss our joint commitment to subject all Recovery Act spending to unprecedented scrutiny. Together, we will work to ensure that every dollar of taxpayer funds under the Recovery Act is moving without delay to the most effective projects and meeting the most urgent needs.

"I was pleased to hear in today’s testimony by the Acting Comptroller General that as construction crews begin to lay new roads and green manufacturers increase staffing to meet new demand, states have begun to establish oversight measures in keeping with our high standards for how Recovery Act funds are spent. Chairman Lieberman, Senator Collins and I are committed to working with states to continue to refine the reporting and oversight process and look forward to working together to ensure that Recovery Act funds move promptly toward the programs and projects that will drive our economic recovery."

I suppose it’s silly of me to expect any of this to make sense ..... or be coherent.

It’s Bidenese. It never makes sense... But it likes to grin a lot... like it’s having a difficult bowel movement.

He has actually only made sense one time, as we are now living out day-to-day on several possible fronts-

“Mark my words it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate and he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you - not financially to help him - we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.
Gird your loins”

“Bad choice to be VP.”

After watching Kerry’s suckup to the Messiah this week I wouldn’t be suprised if he was angling for Plugs job once Obama was done with him.
