To be fair, such an alliance was doomed for other reasons.

Due to geography, there was no way Britain or France could bring troops directly to the aid of the Poles. Any reinforcements for Poland would have to come from the Red Army.

Since Poland had fought a major war less than 20 years previously for its survival against the Red Army, they were obviously less than anxious to allow Russian troops into Poland. They considered, accurately as it turned out, the Soviets to be as much their enemies as the Nazis.

Somewhere in these posts I have Churchill presenting the Polish dilemma a they supposedly saw it: Keep the Soviets out and lose their liberty to the Germans, or let the Soviets in to "protect" them and lose their soul.

Britain and France cut their own strategic necks, when they sold Czechoslovakia down the river. The Czech’s had a solid military, they had good defensive geography and they would fight.

Thank you Chamberlain and the other dumbasses. Obama’s going to raise Chamberlain’s mistake by a factor of 3. Prepare.
