If General Patton were alive today he would vomit on the very political leaders we now have that are taking our country toward the very thing he defeated.
Interestingly, Rommel was an infantry officer who only began to lead armored units late in his career. His first book was about infantry in the attack.

If General Patton were alive today he would not be granted a commission. He’d never make it past Political Correctness 101 or Rules of Engagement.
Rommel and Patton had a lot in common. They both liked to play on offense. They both believed in armor and tanks were instrumental to that end in modern warfare. Above all, they were both noble soldiers whose attributes outweighed their faults.
That was before we had to get permission from some desk jockey in Washington and a dozen lawyers to shoot back.
Well, one thing we know: Rommel was forced to commit suicide after the July 20th Bomb Plot because of his involvement in the conspiracy.

Actually, Rommel’s name was on a list the conspirators had of people they wanted in the post-Hitler government. It’s never been clear, however, whether Rommel was actually communicating with them. Regardless, the high command, including Rundstedt, threw Rommel under the bus. The suicide pact kept everything quiet and allowed his wife to get his pension.
