Left's new regard for our military

I've been doing some searching and haven't come across this anywhere on the internet so I wanted to declare myself the first to make this observation. If anyone knows of a post or article that beat me to the punch please let me know.

The Left, (i.e. Statists, Liberals, MSM,& progressives) are now coming full circle in their attitudes toward the US military. Whereas last election The Left had no use whatsoever for George Bush's troops, suddenly The Left are now coming to respect them. Of course the reason is with 00 at the helm they are really only capable of goodness now. Since they want 00 to be reelected and they know most Americans respect our troops, suddenly Colbert goes to Baghdad and Newsweek runs favorable articles about West Point. The schtick will be that finally they will be led by reasonable leaders. Much the same as Chavez's media love the Venezuelan military.

I was noticing on NPR over the past few days, there has been a remarkable change in the tone when covering the military. The situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, for instance, is surprisingly complex. It's difficult (you see) to know exactly what is correct and what is incorrect. But (of course) people of good will can see that the US is trying very hard to make the situation better and, while mistakes are always possible, the overall goal is certainly a noble one.

Along these lines, there was a story about a Special Forces team in Afghanistan which was building a medical clinic. This particular team started this particular task in Jan 2009 (ahem) and they were really winning "hearts and minds" in the region. There was an unmistakable tone that THIS sort of humanitarian activity was brand new and was really starting to get the US on a better track for success in the war.

Of course, anyone who has followed the topic knows that our soldiers have been doing this good work since thge beginning. But now the media wants to talk about it.

Any approval of the military by the Left is primarily lipservice for political gain, as you say.

Said approval will not, however, keep them from tinkering with the military to make it more congruent with Leftist “ideals” - e.g., changing policies concerning gays, etc.

They do not respect them, they fear them.

If things proceed as they are, only the Military can save the country.

“They do not respect them, they fear them.”

Bingo! Exactly right.
Otherwise, they would not have, in essence, emasculated the military at graduation cermonies. That action said it clearly.
Enter Rahm and O’s Civilian National Security Force, “as well funded as the millitary”.

“If things proceed as they are, only the Military can save the country.”

Right again.
We should expect that most, deprived of the internet and cell phones, will do well to defend their immediate residential area or a portion of their community. And, the threats will come from a range of sources.

Zero (PBUH) will not be the first despot to empty the asylums and prisons in order to staff his own SS.

The difference is, experienced thugs though they may be, they will be hunted for sport.

I like it! The U.S. Constitution will serve as our hunting license. It was paid for by brave men.
