Australian Observation
email from daughter | Hunting & Fishing USA ^ | 27 Jul 2009 | unknown

Received an email from my daughter who's husband is working as a contractor in Iraq:

Australian Shooter Magazine

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote: "If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington , DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq.

TOPICS: Hobbies; Humor; Military/Veterans; Society
KEYWORDS: australia; guns; iraq
Conclusion: "The US should pull out of Washington ."

and I'm thinking - "not just because of the body count."

While understand the conclusion instead I would suggest an option of a surge.

Minor correction:

"That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, because they have which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq."

No, no, no... What we need is a ‘surge’ in DC.
We need massive amounts of manpower, firepower, and military-tribunal investigations into the corruption, [willful] dereliction of duty, and [possible] treason perpetrated by ALL THREE BRANCHES of Government.

And, yes, for the special event those found guilty should “hang by the neck until dead.”

THAT would be some reform right there.

It is time to include the murderers and rapists in the dialog, to make a place for them in the political process. Send Hillary out to talk to them.

I suspect there are fewer IEDs in DC.
