My wife, a physician for more than 30 years, just got off the phone with AARP (which should be called CRAP for its support of Obama's health care grab). She gave the woman who said the phone was ringing off the hook today with members canceling out because of the organization's support for Managed Death Noncare. It took my wife more than 15 minutes on hold to cancel. I urge anyone who is a member of AARP to cancel the membership and to tell them why they are canceling.

They do. I have received their literature at several addresses. I send it back and, when they persist, have called them saying I’m not interested and asking them NOT to contact me in the future. They generally haven’t unless they get another address.

I joined last year in order to get the AARP/Aetna (they underwrite it) “Essential Premier” individual health plan for uninsured folks between 50 and 65. It’s expensive but Aetna is easy on the underwriting so some pre-existing conditions are not an automatic denial of coverage.
I hate AARP, however, and want to drop the membership and stop getting their garbage. Called them today and they said I DO NOT have to continue membership to keep my Aetna policy. Called Aetna to double-check and was told they would have to check (called their executive office).
I would hate to be stuck paying the idiotic AARP dues just to keep this insurance. Maybe I should just cancel everything since Zero will be taking care of everything for us, right? And I’m 60 now so pretty much over the hill in his eyes — maybe I’ll be counseled on that ‘end of life’ “care.”
If only that would work with the Republican National Senatorial Committee.

No slur intended but with the graying of America, I wonder how many people who once burned their draft cards will now turn and burn their AARP cards in protest.
Certainly turns the act on its head (as does burning the UN flag).
We have NEVER joined AARP because I've always known they were a socialist organization.

He brought up an example of a retired woman who spent her life savings on care to save her life.
He says that things don’t have to be this way. BUT he doesn’t explain that the government’s solution will be to persuade you to bite the capsule (as Edward G. Robinson does at the end of Soylent Green).
Seniors will be forced to belong to AARP. Why not? Forcing everyone to buy health insurance is already Unconstitutional.

I cancelled mine last week and told them why. I told them they are selling their members out and committing them to a culture of death by backing this healthcare plan of Obama’s.

Seriously, they sent me a membership offer when I was in my late 30’s. The rebel in me wanted to join just because it said you had to be 50.
Of course, Reader’s Digest used to send out stuff that said “You have been a subscriber since 19**” and the year they gave was before I was born.
I guess reports of my birth have been greatly exaggerated.
I just went out to the AARP website. They have a flow of graphics linking to different stories there. One says,
Health Bills Tackle Shortage of Geriatricians.
Yeah. It just ain’t by increasing the number of geriatricians...

I held on for nearly two hours and finally gave up and emailed. I sure hoped the wait was because of people complaining. I only joined to get a reduced rate on hotels, but the membership will end up costing me in the end because of their stance on health care.
