If the first three numbers indicate state of issuance how can my number be different than my husbands and my Mothers as all were issued in the same state many years apart. Is this a recent thing?

The SSNs’ are not random as far as I know and the code reflects somethign about you- where born or perhaps, where card is obtained using a residence there

I looked over that recent executive order a few months ago, and it was something that was a continuation of Bush’s former executive order — as a lot of the wording was the same.
But, I also see that Obama’s Executive Order 13489 — *restores* — “Ronald Reagan’s Executive Order 12667
Executive Order 12667 established a procedure for former United States Presidents to limit access to certain records which would otherwise have been released by the National Archives and Records Administration under the Presidential Records Act of 1978. It was issued by President Ronald Reagan on 18 January 1989.
The Executive Order was superseded by Executive Order 13233 on 1 November 2001, which allows former Presidents to have greater control over which records are released by the NARA. President George W. Bush’s Executive Order 13233 was then revoked by President Barack Obama on January 21, 2009, his first day in office, who essentially restored the provisions of Order 12667 in his new Order.[1]

I saw the list, it was based on a PI doing work on the case. The list of addresses was long, i google earthed a bunch and only came up with “nonexistant” and dirt fields. There is a link here somewhere to the list.
I’m close to Obama’s age, and most of my cohorts didn’t have SS#’s until they started working.

This Congress and this "President" have shown the need for a few reforms. Congressional term limits, limits on the size, in terms of pages or characters, of bills. Hard requirements on processes in Congress, rather than letting the foxes guard the hen house. And a requirement that eligibility for all offices, Congress and Executive, be proven, from source documents. Bans on federal payments to anyone except for services rendered or goods provided. Limits on who can vote. You don't pay taxes in x of the y years (3 of 4 , 1 of 2, and 4 of 6 sounds about right for the 3 federal offices) before an election, sorry, you can't vote in that election. A little quiz on the Constitution might be in order as well.

575-576 indicate a card issued in or to Hawaii.
No the code just indicates in which state the card was issued, or after 1972, based on the zip code of the address on the application.
Most states have more than a single 3 digit number assigned.Texas has 449-467, While Alaska only has one, 574.
