VANITY: Are the ranks of FreeRepublic growing?
7 August 2009 | RareStia

Posted on 08/07/2009 10:03:13 AM PDT by rarestia

Given the American Conservative pot is boiling and bubbling, I wonder if the ranks of FreeRepublic are growing? Is there any way to track if the numbers of members on FreeRepublic have increased in number since the election and inauguration of President Obama?

I truly believe that forums like this are necessary to the freedom of our country, and I want to be heartened by the news that, yes, the numbers of new members and activities of old members are time for the masses to peaceably assemble and get really, fires-of-Hell mad.

This administration and the Liberals in this country are banking on our complacency. I want to know that I'm not the only one out here whose blood is boiling, and I want to know that we're not going to give up this country without a fight. It's time for action.

As Jefferson once said, "The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." The SEIU seems fit to draw first blood. How do we respond?

Anyone know where the FR statistics pages are located?

I used to have the link but misplaced it.

Expose the scum and let people see how they are acting.
The light of day is what makes cockroaches scurry.

That information is no longer made public. That information has little value since the number of troll accounts has expanding at a similar exponential rate as legit signups. Signal to noise differentiation problem.

Just my observation I’d say no. See how few responses most threads have. And with the ongoing Birther takeover and the growing tendency to condemn any Republican that won’t toe the conservative line on every issue all the time I predict an increasing slide into irrelevance. JMHO, though.

See how few responses most threads have.

That is because most news stories are posted at least 5 times.

Of course, this is a conservative web site not a Republican web site.

FR has always had surges in membership during times of crisis. Lot’s of us signed up during the 2000 recount fiasco, more around 9-11 and during the 2004 election/ Rathergate stuff.

I do think there are more attempts at troll inflitration these days. All the more reason to appreciate the job the mods do.

BLOAT, wait, watch. Like a snake we must wait for the appropriate time to strike. (It may come, it may not.)

Yeah, but the perfect is the enemy of the good. Case in point, a few days ago Pat Toomey announced a position on an issue (I don't even remember what the issue was) contrary to most people's views here. He suddenly went from being the savior of PA to worthless RINO scum. This sort of thing happens all the time now.

Trusting from personal experience, oh yeah there are more troll infiltrations - especially around the college class seasonal schedule, right when the Obamabots are going back to school.

In January and March, we had a lot of trolls on the wire, and we're getting one again now - but not nearly as bad as March was.

Yeah, but it seems like half the threads are either vanities or references to obscure websites or blogs. This is less and less the place to go for news stories you otherwise would miss.

I laid low during that one and avoided the purge. And all you guys are making my case for me. Purist, "my way or the highway" sentiments will leave us as a permanent minority.

the growing tendency to condemn any Republican that won’t toe the conservative line on every issue all the time

I found that a tad amusing since this is a "conservative" blog and not a "republican" blog. True, the Republican party has courted the conservatives as their base for a mighty long time. But when the Republican party swings away from conservatism, the conservatives do not follow along for the ride. That is, after all, what makes us conservative in the first place -- we remain true to our origins. And, if we do "slide into irrelevance", at least we'll do it in good company :-)
