Mac OSX.4 Tiger and Mac OSX.5 Leopard users can upgrade using "Software Update..." under the Apple Menu.

If anybody uses the Windows version of Safari, I’d be interested in hearing from them what they like about it.

It's coolest feature
(to me) is favorite sites
can be stored as "art"
like the iTune thing
where you select cover art...
You see site "thumbnails"
a bunch at a time
and select visually
where you want to go.
To: theFIRMbss
That’s called Top Sites. To be fair, it’s also in Google Chrome, Opera, and can be enabled via extension in Firefox.

"... (40MB (Leopard), 26MB (Tiger), 27MB (Windows))..." Any idea why the Leopard version is almost half again as big as the one for Tiger?

Well, I had it on a desktop and an older laptop, but I took it off both of them when IE8 and Firefox 3.5 came out.
Something about Safari overheated and bogged down the laptop real bad, never could figure out what was the problem. It was smokin fast on the desktop. Maybe I will give it another try on the desktop.

"Any idea why the Leopard version is almost over half again as big as the one for Tiger?" Not a clue. . . but it may have something to do with core graphics. Tiger doesn't got 'em, Leopard's got 'em.

One would think that they'd be able to port safari to linux.

One would think that they'd be able to port safari to linux. They could... It's based on WebKit. I think that the code for Safari is even open. They just haven't.

I like that in Safari it has a little star over the sites that has been updated. I don’t believe any of the others do that.
