Joan Jett has a black heart for a former bandmate.
The hard-rocking frontwoman is suing a bassist of her first band, the Runaways, for blocking a film about the all-girl hard-rock group.
Jacqueline Fuchs, a k a Jackie Fox, who played for the band from December 1975 to June 1977, claims to own a piece of its trademark and has gone out of her way to disrupt the biopic, titled "The Runaways."

I always get The Slits and The Cramps mixed up.I'll make it easy for you . . . ;) . . . :
1) The Slits were an all-female band.
2) The Cramps were three gentlemen and a lady guitarist. (Ivy Rorschach, not coincidentally the wife of Lux Interior.)
3) The Slits were English.
4) The Slits actually had a bassist. The fact that she could barely play the instrument was a mere technicality.
5) The fact that the Slits as a band could barely play their instruments was a mere technicality.
6) The Cramps had absolutely nothing to do with Sid Vicious at any time, in any place. (The Slits came together after three of them had been in a pre-Sex Pistols band into which they invited him---as a drummer---only to get kicked out of that band by him.)
7) The Cramps actually could play.
8) The Slits wouldn't have had the imagination or the chutzpah to conceive of the Little Willie John/Peggy Lee chestnut "Fever" as a drive-in dirge. The Cramps did.
The Cramps respected rock and roll and its roots.
The Cramps were actually listenable as well as funny.
75-77 would be the key and original years.
A corollary would be that a movie about the Go Gos or the Bangles (Girl bands that had actual hits) might be more interesting by an infinitesimal amount.
One of the women who is portrayed is already dead. It’s easier to get people to sign on when they aren’t around.That would be drummer Sandy West (cancer, 2006).

That song is supposed to be in some commercial, or movie these days. I don’t know. I’m out of touch with the pop culture these days. No tv, don’t go to theaters.

To be fair, Joan Jett and Lita Ford both went on to have MTV hits in the days of Go Gos and Bangles.
They were huge in Japan (as in couldn’t walk down the street).
A corollary would be that a movie about the Go Gos or the Bangles (Girl bands that had actual hits) might be more interesting by an infinitesimal amount.The Bangles had actual hits, but the Runaways had a considerably more notorious story. In some ways, so did the Go-Gos, but the Runaways were there ahead of them, for better or worse, and from what I've read of the band it's arguable whether better or worse applies the most, which may be another compelling reason why the Runaways might make an interesting film subject.
(The Runaways and the Bangles share a member, by the way: before she landed in the Bangles, Micki Steele was the Runaways' founding bassist---they launched as a power trio in Los Angeles, with Cherie Currie and Lita Ford joining later; Steele was replaced first by a short-lived bassist named Peggy Foster and then by Jackie Fox, who'd originally tried out as the band's lead guitarist.)

My trick for playing old-time radio shows, which I do in the final half of my show---I play them on the date they aired in the first place, back in the year, including a choice installment of Bob & Ray's absolute best show, Bob & Ray Present the CBS Radio Network from 1959-60.)
