OK ... In snow leopard, there’s a built in search function that lets you EASILY search for files with a wide variety of parameters, via an intuitive user interface. In Windows 7 (which is REMARKABLY error-free) the ability to find a file ‘out there’ on your spinning media is obfuscated by a interface that was designed by a blind sadist.
How can they possibly be that bad with UI???
Remember, I actually LIKE Windows 7 ...

I'll soon be buying a laptop. Most likely Dell...but possibly Sony or Toshiba.I'll almost certainly upgrade it to W7 as soon as it's available.
I won't consider a Mac...even for a second.

Good idea.....if you have must have Window’s only apps.

I just bought a ThinkPad T400s. Awesome machine! Check it out on Lenovo’s site. And I didn’t consider a Mac.

Five differences between OSX.6 Snow Leopard and Windows 7PING!
Note to all: I will be only able to post every couple of days, if that. Mrs. Swordmaker and I are leaving for a ten day cruise to Alaska. I'm not going to pay the $25 for 20 MB of downloads the cruise line wants to have internet access, so I will only be able to post when my iPhone has connection in port.
Mac Snow Leopard V. Windows 7 Ping!

The search utility starting with Vista/2008 became a huge pile of elephant dung. The person who wrote it, and the person he reports to, should be forced to go skiing - with no snow on the ground. Repeatedly.

Has anyone else had trouble with their mac recognizing WD external hard drives since upgrading to Snow Leopard?

For me, the key difference in significant usage of Release Candidate Win 7 vs. Snow Leopard is: Win 7 has crashed on me and cost me many hours of work, whereas Snow Leopard has taken everything I’ve thrown at it, including repartitioning the drive (I ran out of space in the middle of an urgent process and had to delete another partition) without a reboot and without quitting any programs. It runs like a hose and is totally glitch-free. It does seem to have broken my HP scanner’s driver, but I have had no time to investigate that; might be the scanner itself.

Not I. My HD in my laptop is a WD. Working as it should.

Enjoy your cruise! If you get a chance, take the White Pass Railroad, it’s awesome.

I mentioned the Win 7 crash that set me back in my work. Well, that's one thing, but the most annoying thing I'd point to is the file-deletion process. Delete a file, and up pops a progress box that sits there for entire seconds so Windows can congratulate itself for "recycling" the disk space. Entire seconds of self-congratulation to delete a 4kB file, I'm not kidding. Why why why.

Nope, and good thing too, as I back up to one using Time Machine.

And I didnt consider a Mac.it can be expensive to consider a mac. I own 2 macbooks, and paid about 1k per. I walk thru best buy and see all the $400 laptops...a little 'price envy'.
