EDGARTOWN, Mass. – Just a week after the death of semi-permanent Senate fixture Ted Kennedy, the so-called Lion of the Senate has garnered a touching posthumous honor in his home state.

Chappaquiddick’s picturesque Dike Bridge, where, in a less-than-lionhearted moment in 1969, Kennedy drove a young courtesan to her watery death, is to be rechristened in his name, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (D) confirmed today ...

Although this thread is a joke...

I'm reminded of a similiar situation that was sadly, true... I'm talking about the Austrian Chancellor, Engelbert Dollfuss who was shot and killed in a Nazi coup that failed... and they named a Vienna square after the martyred leader... Dollfuss Plaza.

But after the Nazi annexed Austria in 1938 (four years later)... that square was renamed Adolf Hitler Plaza.

There’s more than one “lady in the lake”? There’s one hunted by teenagers in Dallas... LOL

The bridge does not exist anymore. I looked for it. The locals told me it was destroyed.

The locals called it the “Kennedy washout”.

>>Ted Kennedy Murdered Mary Jo Kepechne 40 Years Ago Today

On a hot summer night, 40 years ago on Chappaquiddick Island, Ted Kennedy 37, murdered 29 year old Mary Jo Kepechne in a driving mishap after leaving a party. Most likely drunk when he drove off Dike Bridge, into Poucha Pond. Teddy managed to free himself from his 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88, which landed upside down. He never dove back into the water to search or try to rescue Mary Jo.

Nice, is that a photo of the actual bridge?

Someone posted that the bridge is actually gone today, but I thought it was still there.

With the Kennedy compound/museum it looks like we taxpayers are going to get stuck with the bill. Bring in private enterprise. My idea is for a theme restaurant there like “Dave and Busters” plus “Hooters.” It will have games like a full size upside down Oldsmobile swimulator. The name will be;

“Waitress Sammie's.”

Here's their ad;
“Check out our one for two specials at “Waitress Sammie's” and by all means, bring a friend.”

I won't even charge the Kennedy Estate for this idea.
