Hmm... Something seems amiss.

Look closely; the left side of the screenshot shows TWO cpus and 12 cores. 12/2 is 6 cores per processor, no?

Isn't this just a dual-cpu system with two 6-core processors?

Dual hex-core procs at 804 MHz? That seems awful. Apparently the authors don't know what to look for/at. However, the right graphic shows 1 clock @ 12 cores, but something still isn't right.

Still can't beat Nehalem for power. We installed our first HP ProLiant DL380 G6 servers today, and they SCREAM! 96 GB of RAM, dual quad-core @ 3.00 GHz, and our benchmarks had it chewing through SQL IOPS like a hot knife through butter even with a bottleneck of 4 GBps SAN connectivity and 15K RPM 3 GBps SATA disks.

Check out the core voltage though. Could be one reason why everything is throttled back. If so I’m impressed.

Yes, I noticed that...and the right screen of the three shows at least one processor running at 1.6 Ghz....not bad if all 12 do that...

No, that's not what I mean.

I mean that what has been captured "in the wild" may not be a 12-core processor, yet.

I have no doubt that AMD will produce an honest-to-goodness 12-core device, but this doesn't appear to be it.

AMD Inc. announced Monday an ultra-low power version of its six-core Istanbul Opteron processors, targeted at cloud computing customers. The power-efficient 40-watt AMD Opteron EE is designed for dense server deployments... Customers of Opteron EE will reap up to 30 per cent higher performance and performance per watt compared to quad-core Opteron chips, said Longoria. Just found out that the AMD Opteron 8000 Series 2600 MHz sells for $2,650.00, over a buck a mhz.
