Narnia crew take to Queenslanders

IT SEEMS Queensland is making as big an impression on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’s cast and crew as the world of Narnia has made on us.

Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb and their friend King Caspian (played by Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Will Poulter and Ben Barnes respectively) have begun filming the third Chronicles of Narnia movie at Warner Roadshow Studios at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

And although official dates have not yet been released, locals can look forward to some big Narnia names coming to the area, when filming kicks off around Cleveland Point early next month.

According to Dawn Treader’s media co-ordinator Ernie Malik who has only recently arrived from the United States himself all the actors and crew have fallen in love with our part of the world.

``Queensland reminds us of Florida it’s called the Sunshine Coast, too, and there’s even a Miami here,`` Mr Malik said. ``And thanks to the weather being so spectacular, we’re already a day ahead of schedule ... we think Mother Nature must be a fan of movies.

``There’s a lot of worse places to be than here.’’

Narnia Ping!

Because of funding difficulties, there were some doubts about the filming of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader going ahead. But now it is happening.

The story is set in islands and blue oceans. Very suitable to film in the Pacific.

Very interesting - I heard it was in limbo due to financial issues, and that 20th Century Fox was taking over from Disney. I’ve seen some photos of the Dawn Treader floating around but wasn’t sure if they were legit or not.
