I know that this is not a place to ask questions, but everyone hear seems pretty intellegent, and if my question could be answered it would put my mind at ease.
I recently inherited some money from a relative in NY, but I live in RI which has a death transfer tax. This relative has no personal or real property in RI. Am I responsible for the transfer tax in RI, or is everything taken care of in NY. I sure hate these liberal states they are taking everything from us.
Best advise I could give, see a local attorney that specializes in this sort of law.
Now my advice for those who die, (Taxman!)
Declare the pennies on your eyes, (Taxman!)
Cos Im the Taxman,
Yeah, Im the Taxman.
And youre working for no-one but me,
(Taxman. Lennon, McCartney).
I plan to get with an attorney next week. I’m just trying to soften the blow. I’m not at a tea party today, but I’m sure the ones who are can hear me because I am screaming my lungs out.
There you go....ask a Beatle
Okay
George Harrison precisely.
Good luck but I wouldn’t be surprised if visions of dollars being flushed down a toilet don’t float through your mind at some time...again, good luck.
PS Don’t think an account in Switzerland will work anymore - the rats will turn you in!
Or The Kinks:
The tax mans taken all my dough,
And left me in my stately home,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
And I cant sail my yacht,
Hes taken everything Ive got,
All Ive gots this sunny afternoon.
Well, you could find the closest Acorn office. I hear that they give out pretty ‘good’ tax advice.
The Kennedys would know the best state in which to file a will. They found the cheapest around with Rose’s estate, and will likely do it again with Bloato Boozo’s dough.
I stand corrected.
...Ah, save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.
I got a big fat mama trying to break me.
And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime
