I thought I had missed this movie since it did not appear around the 9/1 release date. I guess they were just holding it until the war news died down. I had it all along.
And its All About the Men!
The Women trailer
Is it just me or do a couple of these women resemble later Hollywood types? Norma Shearer/Madonna, Rosalind Russell/Susan Sarandon

I LOVE this version of “The Women”. The later one, with June Allison, is good, as well. I recently saw the latest version, with Meg Ryan, and it was awful awful awful.

Susan Sarandon would have been a knockout in Rosalind’s role. If she wasn’t so old, I’d cast Madonna as Crystal, not as Mary. Meg Ryan was cast true for looks but the script was turned inside out and upside down. Hence, it made no sense whatever.

Clare Boothe (later Mrs. Henry Luce [of Time-Life]) later was a conservative Republican Congresswoman from Connecticut, and was famous for feuding with Harry Truman. The Angela Lansbury part in State of the Union was based on her. She was a friend of Bill Buckley, and active in the Conservative Party of New York at the start. She was a great heroine of the Conservative movement into the 1980's.
