NEW YORK - You know the title, now see the cover of Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue."

The former Alaska governor's memoir, a top-seller online weeks before publication, will feature an outdoor shot of Palin, wearing an American flag pin on her red fleece top, eyes turned slightly from the camera as she smiles confidently into the horizon, a patchwork of Alaska blue sky and clouds behind her.

Burt Lancaster, Oral Roberts, Joe Papp, Condoleezza Rice, Ralph Bunch, Daniel Boone and on and on. It’s a popular title and subtitle.

Back when Gov. Palin was being brutalized by the MSM, some talented FReeper posted a photo of Ronaldus Maximus, in a tux...holding a champagne flute, toasting Mrs. Palin. I kinda have always thought that your FReeper namesake would really ‘toast’ Sarah if he were still here. No offense meant :)

Let’s hope she follows in the Gippers’ footsteps!

Why do people have to like Palin to post on a Palin thread?

People post on a Palin thread that she is irrelevant. Pointing out the oxymoron seems apropos to me.

A key difference is that Sarah Palin has no desire whatsoever to fundamentally transform the U.S.A., to make it a socialist autocracy.
While not casting any aspersions regarding Palin’s competence, for which I have high regard, I ask what is the desirability of competence in the service of a completely wrong goal? Josef Stalin was competent.

Occassionally, people unprepared to agree with super-majority conservative opinion on Palin post on Plain threads.

Because this is a conservative site, and Palin embodies everything that is stated on the home page. That is why you see unanimous support for Palin while her detractors' arguments are completely debunked. We're not Palin worshippers or cultists, but we don't understand how people here can dislike her.

LMAO!

Reagan won the Cold War and beat the Soviet Empire into the dust bin of history.

Palin says, she “can see Russia from her front porch”.

Next.

And had even less political experience than the current resident.

And she doesn’t appear to be any better a liar than the current resident. She was up to her ears in real problems in AK, and quit her job because of them.

I really hope that we can come up with a viable candidate other than her. She’d be an embarrassment as prez.

You’re absolutely right about the Reagan thing. RR was underestimated and mocked and minimized and lied about and treated with disdain by the press and the likes of House Speaker Tip O’Neill.

Read one of the Reagan biographies to get a sense of the similarities between him and Palin. Surely, not exact parallels, but similar.

From the Cannon biography, which was not a cheerleading book, believe me:

“First impressions die hard, and professional politicians treated Reagan condescendingly even after he had served two terms as governor and was well into the second term of his presidency. This was in part because politicians who rose through the ranks in orthodox fashion were reluctant to admit that a former actor could do so well at their profession and in part because Reagan worked at being underestimated. When... O’Neill, an accomplished politician, met with President-elect Reagan on November 18, 1980, he tested him by saying that his Sacramento experience was ‘minor league’ and that legislation might not move swiftly for him in Washington. ‘This is the big leagues,’ O’Neill told Reagan, who smiled while his aides fumed. Reagan told me later that he thought he would do better if O’Neill underrated him. Six months and two budget defeats later, O’Neill was asked by a constituent in Boston what was happening. ‘I’m getting the s**t whaled out of me,’ speaker replied.”

At this point, there is nobody else MORE qualified in my eyes to be a LEADER.

well stated! Reagan was the last American President that I was really happy about. Palin will be just such a President.

Being called a “Pubbie” is an insult the left uses all the time, along with Repuglican, Rethuglican and lots of others.

Either use the proper name or quit trying to be cute, that’s part of the problem in America today. Everyone is talking in “Twiteese and FaceBookese” and not using ENGLISH!

We can disagree if you wish.

Palin is a traditionalist and a conservative. We don't know how tough she is yet. I like her and I like her chances. One bright spot in a sea of moderates, liberals and rinos.

But when people compare her to Reagan, they lose credibility. Before Palin gets icon status, she'll have to prove herself. She has to earn it.
