I love Rush..I do. But if my memory serves me correctly, he came forward about his vicodin addiction ONLY when he found himself being blackmailed...am I correct? I love Rush..I dislike hypocrites. Tell me where I'm wrong.
Personally, someone in the public eye does not owe his audience a trip through his personal sins. It is fine to keep these things private. They are definitely TMI for the audience.
However, if one cares for his audience, as Rush genuinely does (we bring him to TEARS a few times a year), once the cat is out of the bag, he will sit down with us and confess. Rush was not blackmailed. His maid went to the National Enquirer.
Rush’s personal failing was an addiction to pain killers from a prescription for back pain. That can happen to anyone.
Letterman is a married man with a child, who was screwing around on his wife, and abusing his privilege over subordinate employees. And he WAS blackmailed.
Absolutely not...I'm saying if he's going to talk about it, he has to talk about his own experience with it and I'M ONLY TALKING ABOUT BLACKMAIL, which was what my original post was about.
Rush did not break laws.
OK, how did you give Rush an orgasm on the air??? Twalk.
Actually...
Rush said on his show today he never had sex with anyone on his staff.
You should never be able to talk about Rush again.
So frckn what. Old news dead and gone......but good try. Let me guess, you think everything is Boooosh’s fault...
Dear David,
THANK YOU!!
Yours Truly,
Roman
Buying prescription drugs from your maid’s boyfriend is against the law. Doctor shopping is against the law. Collecting prescriptions from several doctors is against the law. He did all of that and received the appropriate punishment which was rehab. You don’t think he just came up with that by himself. That’s what lawyers do in these cases..they make deals and the deal was, as most other people, going to rehab. And he got through it with dignity and class and it was over. Why is it so unbelievable to think that an addict got drugs however he could. That’s what drug addicts do. I’m not judging Limbaugh on becoming addicted to pills...It’s very common..I’m saying it’s going to be hard to talk with moral authority about being blackmailed about wrongdoing.
OK, you are right. Sorry - Rush was blackmailed. But the news got out when the maid went to the Enquirer, I believe.
Oxycodone.
No one ever proved he doctor shopped. I know we have seen the story of people giving him their pills. But that again is a symptom of his addiction. He was begging for more. He didn’t steal, though. I have given a migraine drug (which I have on me at all times) to another migraine sufferer, and that too is illegal. Plus I can get up to 80 mph on L.A. freeways. I really meant that he was not convicted — but I stand corrected if a deal to go to rehab is considered breaking a law. I don’t consider it as such.
Rush can DEFINITELY speak about Letterman’s peccadilloes all he wants, with full authority. No one is without sin.
There are sexual harrassment laws, and hostile work environment laws.
Let's say, just for the sake of argument, that Letterman's affairs with his staffers were consentual and not a part of a power-sex move, so harrassment is not the issue.
There is still the creation of a hostile work environment at play. How do the other women in the workplace feel, the ones who did not have sex with Letterman? Will the be suspicious of any perceived favoritism towards those who did sleep with Letterman? Will the think, rightly or wrongly, that the only way for them to advance is to sleep with Letterman?
Consider the Clinton/Lewinsky affair. The person who was not involved in the affair but suffered the most from a hostile work environment was Betty Currie. She had to hide Clinton's gifts to/from Lewinsky. She had to take Lewinsky's cats. I'm sure she didn't expect that to be the responsibilities of the personal secretary to the POTUS. I'm sure she didn't like being put in the position of lying to others to cover for the boss.
That's why corporate America has both sexual harrassment laws and hostile work environment laws. Hostile work environment is more than just putting centerfold pinup posters on the wall.

Bingo! Maybe GapTooth needs to go into THERAPY for SEX ADDICTION!!
his cleaning lady tried.
LMAO
Ok...now I'm REALLY confused. You're saying it's "going to be" hard to talk with moral authority...." and you're referring to Rush. Well, which is it? Did Rush make a "moral authority" comment (I don't listen to him)....or not? If he did, could you please post that comment and link? If Rush didn't make such a comment, what the hell IS the point of this thread?
HE BOUGHT THE PILLS FROM HIS MAID’S BOYFRIEND in addition to all the doctors. So I guess you have no problem with all the doctors who gave Michael Jackson drugs and will standing up for them because, after all, Jackson became addicted because of pain. Come on..just be consistent. People fail...people fall..it’s how they get up that shows their true character...and Rush showed his with dignity and class. But he can’t take the moral highground on some issues anymore..that’s just a fact.
..and I should add, it is hypocritical for Retro Kitten to LAMO at my complaining about Hildy complaining about Rush complaining about Letterman complaining about a blackmailer complaining about his interns who in turn, complained again about Letterman’s performance who complained about Rush’s popularity....
