HAMMOND, La. (AP) - A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

Neither Bardwell nor the couple immediately returned phone calls from The Associated Press. But Bardwell told the Daily Star of Hammond that he was not a racist.

Hammond is just outside N.O..

I'm guessing the welcome mat was NOT out for Katrina refugees.

So it’s okay for them to shack up and have a bunch of out of wedlock kids. What in the hell is this judge thinking?

I didn't think that my grandmother was still alive (she told me the same thing that interracial marriage between whites and anyone else was bad "for the children).

Its between a WOMAN and a MAN. That's all that should matter! Even if they are a match made in hell, it is their own damn decision!

Now that Google has made available hundreds of thousands of public domain books for free to download, I am reading a bunch of excellent books on observations of life in America in the 1850's and even during the civil war period.

Very readable in today's type of English, not like reading Ben Franklin.

Try "Army life in a Black Regiment" by Thomas Higginson Wentworth circa 1863 or "An Englishmans Travels in America; His observations of life and manners in the free and slave states" circa 1857.

No PC back then, these people tell it like it was and what and how the races thought, treated, and expected of each other.

Fascinating considering what is happening today and shocking when one realizes that the Plantation mentality is alive and well today and is embodied in the halls of the United States Congress, our Masters, and the democrat party and their constituents, who have become Overseers of us taxpayer slaves.

That’s true. Senators of which party wore the great white sheet in their younger years?

I'm enough of a racist to realize that there are immutable differences between black and white culture. One of these immutables is that any black man with an actual education has had to fight his own culture to get that education. (Versus having it greased and handed to them, like BO.)

But, I also know that a good many teenagers and immature women think it's "romantic" to do the Mandingo thing.

You can't fix stupid, and there is nothing more stupid than a liberal man or woman in smug love with his/her/it's "color blind" ideals.

This judge is going to get steamrollered for trying to be honest, and attempting to obstruct stupidity. Honesty is a failing in a public official exposed to Democrat, politically correct, justice.

I wonder how many outlets covering this story omit that the Judge is a Democrat.

The ACLU was preparing a letter for the Louisiana Supreme Court, which oversees the state justices of the peace, asking them to investigate Bardwell and see if they can remove him from office, Schwartzman said.

Fascinating. The ACLU doesn't even care what the outcome of the investigation is. If they don't care about the outcome, I wonder if they care what the charges are? Something about this whole article doesn't pass the smell test.
