Global warming is nothing more than a hoax that is being perpetrated to line the pockets of politicians like Al Gore and environmental whackjob businesses.

It’s all about government control, not about the climate at all.

Carbon tax that morons.

It's about creating "pockets"....via taxing...

We will pay either as a consumer or a worker and in most cases...both. Under $250,000 don't pay?? Humbug...Try and make it without us "working consumers".

Please be specific with your language about this issue, in order to solidify your argument. HUMAN CAUSED Global Warming is the hoax. We humans, neither by our presence, nor our activities, put enough CO2 into the atmosphere to cause ANY change in the Global Climate. I've read that the percentage of the total human contribution to atmospheric CO2 is about 3% of the total!

It IS true that Global Temperatures rose in the 90's, and there was a perfectly good NATURAL explanation for it; sunspots. Until the big push for the Carbon Tax led by Al Gore and his Carbon trading partners, and the accompanying research dollars, most scientists who dealt with the climate understood that the Sun has a fairly regular sunspot cycle, and our Global Temps wax and wane depending on where the sun is in that cycle. There are times when that cycle is disrupted, and there may be more, or fewer sunspots for a longer period of time than normal.

The 90's saw a fairly active sunspot cycle time, so we had temps that were similar to those in the 1930s. (Dustbowl, anyone?) However, that cycle wound down in the late 90's, thus we had a cooling trend on Earth. The new sunspot cycle began in 2008, but there were very few sunspots, and we actually went for months at some points with minimal or NO sunspots. When this has happened in the past, and that minimal output has gone on for more than two years, we've had periods of severe cooling. The Little Ice age in the late 1700s and early 1800s, was an example of the result of minimal sunspot activity. When Cycle 23 gets rolling, we'll see warmer temps again, but that hasn't happened yet.

So, it's very important to be absolutely CLEAR in how you frame your Global Warming comments. Folks have no trouble believing that the Sun could have more of an effect on our climate, as long as it is explained to them, and they're given the correct information about the miniscule effect we humans have on it.

Now, this is not to say that lowering the amount of fossil fuels we use is not a good thing. I'd like to lower oil use, or at least use oil brought up from OUR soil and waters, so as to reduce the amount of money we send to the Middle East each year. That's also a good segue into the discussion about the need for new nuclear power plants in this country. If folks want to drive electric cars so as to keep the air in their communities free of pollution, it makes sense that the electricity come from a non-polluting source, like nukes. ;o)
