Bummer....:( Bummer-squared when you consider he could've escaped from being incinerated just by spending a night with Britt Ekland (c. 1973).
Not a tough choice for half the population...

BUTCHERED TO MAKE A DUTCHMAN'S HOLIDAY by Harry "Breaker" Morant (1864-1902)
In prison cell I sadly sit,
A d__d crest-fallen chappie!
And own to you I feel a bit-
A little bit - unhappy!
It really ain't the place nor time
To reel off rhyming diction -
But yet we'll write a final rhyme
Whilst waiting cru-ci-fixion!
No matter what "end" they decide -
Quick-lime or "b'iling ile," sir?
We'll do our best when crucified
To finish off in style, sir!
But we bequeath a parting tip
For sound advice of such men,
Who come across in transport ship
To polish off the Dutchmen!
If you encounter any Boers
You really must not loot 'em!
And if you wish to leave these shores,
For pity's sake, DON'T SHOOT 'EM!!
And if you'd earn a D.S.O.,
Why every British sinner
Should know the proper way to go
Is: "ASK THE BOER TO DINNER!"
Let's toss a bumper down our throat, -
Before we pass to Heaven,
And toast: "The trim-set petticoat
We leave behind in Devon."

Take the “ward” out of his names and he’s “Ed Wood.”

Yeah, mine too. My Dad turned me on to A Christmas Carol when I was young. My favorite "kid's" version was Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the late 50's and 60's we'd watch all the versions we could; in those days black and white TV, with reception on about three channels. We were generally in agreement that Reginald Owen's Scrooge was the best until George C. Scott came along, although the 1930's version was not really a very faithful rendition of the story.

He apparently was extremely grateful to his fans in an interview—very gracious and gentle, not much like his characters.

RIP Mr. Woodward.
I dl'd the entire Equalizer series. I found the debut and last 2 seasons were the best. It got a bit thins after the debut and through the middle episodes. His son was less than great ion the series, IMO. Mickey was a treat as well as a few of the other members of his old group who would do the occasional odd bit of work for him. He played the part elegantly and never over the top. Quite cool and calculated.
Always tastefully done and quite current with the craft work of the era.

Yes! The theme song was very dark and no-nonsense.

Oh, no! One of my favorite actors. I just saw the first few episodes of “The Equalizer” on a Netflix disk; it was as good as I remembered.

The actor who played Kostmeyer (Keith Somethingwithoutvowels) has rather specialized in elegant villains since then. He had a recurring role in Law&Order for a while, and later turned up in Babylon 5. I’m sure there are others.

I loved “The Equalizer” as a kid. I always remembered that he carried a Walther PPK (or PPKS) in that show, and as an adult I finally bought my own.
