The director Steven Soderbergh compared casting the 21-year-old porn actress Sasha Grey as the lead in his latest film to working with Brad Pitt.
The interest in the sylph-slim, smoky-eyed actress, he explained, would be greater than the interest in the movie itself, a useful boost given that The Girlfriend Experience is firmly positioned at the defiantly uncommercial end of the Soderbergh spectrum.
Grey’s might not be a name that resonates through every household, but she has made her mark in the three years that she has been active in the adult entertainment industry. Last year she was the youngest person to win Adult Video News Awards’ Female Performer of the Year gong.
I witnessed the Sasha factor first-hand when I hosted a question-and-answer session for The Girlfriend Experience at the Barbican cinema in London. It wasn’t the stampede of autograph hunters at the end of the evening that surprised, however, rather the fact that about half of them were young women.

Per my Ukrainian wife it is also a female nickname. "Sasha" is the diminutive of both Aleksandr (m) and Aleksandra (f).
17.5? I have heard the age of 16 tossed around a few times regarding her infamous career. Granted I met her and got her autograph at Dragoncon a few years back. She was actually quite personable. The autograph was for the office “Wally” and it made his week to get it.

Traci Lords and now Sasha Grey are probably the only former porn stars that I can think of who have found success in mainstream entertainment. Jenna Jameson has also enjoyed some "mainstream" success but it has so far been based on her notoriety in the Adult world.
Interestingly enough, what Lords did was a stroke of brilliance. Using a fake I.D. she entered the adult entertainment world at 15. At 18 she dropped the bomb on her real age which cost the pornographic film and distribution industry millions of dollars to pull her films off the shelves. She formed her own production company, released one film as a legal adult, reaped the profits this film earned and then left the adult business a wealthy and famous woman.

Mere conclusions without supporting reasons are worthless! Since many a time I have had my own posts repeated multiple times, it is useful to know the type, number, and sources of posting. As to the co-starring with Brad Pitt, the lead paragraph of the story does indeed give that impression.
That is interesting. I knew she was underage in many of her films, but I hadn't heard "the rest of the story".
Sasha Grey is not just any porn actress, she is a fetish porn actress. Even Howard Stern was disturbed by her.
She is one of those porn stars that try to justify their behavior by claiming they are artists. She is just a cute girl that is naive and willing to do anything to make a quick buck. She probably hates her father.
