I just called and my brother answered. What she has is the ACS. So...I believe that I will call the number and answer the questions for her. (When I am at her house next week.)

I will tell them I am speaking for her, if they need her to ok it, she will. I will tell them they have sent a pretty invasive survey to a 102 year-old woman....

And I think I will tell them that some of the questions are none of their business.

I wonder if one could require proof of the authorization and direction. Maybe I should ask for a copy, under seal, of the instructions and delegations.

I do not respond to any phone call requesting personal information. Even if they say they are from the census bureau. I have been a victim of a scam thinking I was talking to someone that stated who they were. There is no way to verify the caller that they are who they are. Never give personal information over the phone.

Seems a little early for the census. It doesn’t start until next year. Check it out and see if it is bogus. Besides, the law only requires you to answer the questions on how many people live at your residence. I still think this is bogus, since the forms are not supposed to be mailed until next year.

I just got mine. I wish I was 102. Then I wouldn’t worry about it. I think we are screwed either way. Why couldn’t they make up any numbers that they want? What if 10% or more of all conservatives refuse to participate? Who audits the census? At what point is the census unusable?

It’s the same as the climate data problem. You can’t look at it and I can’t look at it. Only the government can look at it. They can say anything they want about this data and who can say it isn’t true? At some point in the future who is to say that this data will not be made available to some other government agencies “for other purposes?”
