Good morning, Billie.
Thank you for the beautiful Opening Graphic to accompany the lovely voice of Susan Boyle.
Wishing you a wonderful, musical Tuesday.

God's Gift

One day when God felt generous,
He looked down at me and smiled,
“Since I feel so magnanimous,
I'd like to give you something, child.”

He asked me what I wanted,
I said, “Oh, really nothing more,
You've done so much already.”
He said, “That's what God is for.”

“You have been pretty good,” He said,
I know there's not much that you seek,
I will pick a little something,
Just to make your life complete.”

With great anticipation,
I looked forward to my gift,
I wondered what God had in mind,
That would give me such a lift.

“This gift,” God said, “You realize,
Bears some responsibility,
So, if you accept my present,
You must be willing to agree...

“To offer unconditionally,
A section or a part,
Of more than half of you,
The larger portion of your heart.”

“Okay, God,” I answered,
“Since in You, I always trust,
I'll meet your obligation,
In the manner that I must.”

To myself, I thought, wow, what a gift,
For so much of me, God's asked,
Now what could be so valuable,
That my share was more than half?

With both hands I sought my gift,
I still did not have a clue,
Then God put your hand in mine,
And said His gift to me was YOU!

DINNER IS ON ME

I will not be here tomorrow, off to Duluth MN for my 63rd Birthday, so I’m doing dinner for all my friends here before I split.

—————————— DINNER -———————————

-Steak, aged and slow baked, stuffed with shaved crab and Cashews.

-Ham, sliced and marinated in a rum and molasses sauce, baked until tender.

-Chicken breasts covered with Parmesan cheese and homemade Mayo, a sprinkle of bread crumbs and baked. Served with a light topping of Sauce béarnaise.

-Lightly seared Asparagus, flash steamed and topped with Lemon Butter.

-Garlic Potatoes, with a dusting of lightly grated Camembert cheese.

-A salad of finely sliced Romaine lettuce and date segments with a whipped Mayo and Lemon dressing.

-Dessert
——Chocolate cake layered with chocolate Mousse, crushed cashews and diced cherries and frosted with a soft toffee flavored frosting topped with caramel and semi-sweet chocolate slivers.

-Coffee, tea, and for the season Mulled Cider
-Milk (for us growing kids)

Later by the fire;
A fine single-malt and a first class cigar for those of a particular taste. For the rest, a delicate wine, a selection of pastries, and a good time by the fireside with good friends.

Thank you both - I'm glad you enjoyed the December opening. Susan Boyle's album was just released last week, and "Who I Was Born To Be" so far has remained my favorite track, but her voice is so pure and beautiful on everything she sings. Amy and I want to do at least one more of her songs this week. :)

Meg, your Christmas 'decorating' also helped get the December thread off to a wonderful start! I do hope the tremor doesn't last long - we miss your beautiful posts when you can't spend much time here.

Jaycee, another pretty and inviting good morning coffee post today. Think I will go brew a small pot right now - it's cold here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHNN!

When I read it was your Birthday,
I immediately went out
And bought the best ingredients,
And fixed especially for YOU
my magic Boeuf Wellington!

(You always feed us so well,
That on this very special occasion,
You deserve the very best!)

LOL! I love Maxine. Here's an email I got a couple of weeks ago (which some may have seen), but it's so cute and funny, I'm posting it anyway. :)

PRESIDENT IN 2012

Here we are, already discussing the future President of
the United States, beginning with the Year 2012.

For those of you who would like THE VERY BEST choice for
President, we have a solution: It is probably time we have
a woman as President. One choice is a very special lady
who has just about every answer to assist in helping us
to solve our problems.

PLEASE give this a thought when you have a moment...

MAXINE FOR PRESIDENT!

Very eloquently put...........don't you think?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Maxine on "Driver Safety" "I can't use the cell phone in the car.. I have to keep my hands free for making gestures.".......
  • Maxine on "Lawn Care" "The key to a nice-looking lawn is a good mower. I recommend one who is muscular and shirtless."
  • Maxine on "The Perfect Man" "All I'm looking for is a guy who'll do what I want, when I want, for as long as I want, and then go away. Or wait nearby, like a Dust Buster, charged up and ready when needed."
  • Maxine on "Technology Revolution" "My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice."
  • Maxine on "Aging" "Take every birthday with a grain of salt. This works much better if the salt accompanies a Margarita."
  • "The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket."
  • "To err is human; to forgive, highly unlikely."
  • "Do you realize that in about forty years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos and pierced navels?" (Now that's scary!)
  • "Money can't buy happiness--but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia."
  • "After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching somewhere...you may be dead.."
If you don't forward this to ten of your friends within
the next five minutes, nothing will happen..but you'll rob
them of a whole bunch of much-needed laughter.
I am IMPRESSED! That is a most favorite dish indeed, fit to put before a king (or me.) ;^)
Many thanks, I shall savior it, with appropriate lip smacking joy.
Thanks, Amy. Let's do another Susan Boyle one! :) Just saw a tally of her sales in the U.S. of her debut album: the presales plus those purchased last week when the cd became available in the stores are the highest number of one week sales for 2009! (670,000)
What a cute little cowboy kitty!
MAXINE FOR PRESIDENT!
Now talk about a dynamic leader, and so clearly the best candidate with a uncluttered view of life.
