The New Deal ( Obama's Plagiaristic New Deal )

When Franklin Delano Roosevelt became President in 1933, he pledged a "new deal for the nation." During his famous first 100 days, he passed a flurry of legislation and created agencies to get the ball rolling.

1933 Emergency Banking Act FDR imposed a four-day bank holiday while he put together a plan to stabilize the nation's banks. He held his first radio "fireside chat" to announce the reopening of the banks, and when they did, they were stable.

1933 Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) To combat the immediate results of the depression, FDR gave $500 million to the states for emergency food and shelter.

1933-1934 Civil Works Administration (CWA) The CWA was a short-term project that provided 4 million construction and public works jobs during the winter of 1933-34. Despite the best efforts of First Lady Eleanor, only 19 percent of the workers were women.

1933 Federal Surplus Relief Corp This agency purchased surplus animals and crops for distribution to the states.

1933 Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Also known as "soil soldiers" and "Roosevelt's tree army," the members of this agency were hired to work on conservation projects like reforestation, soil reclamation, wildlife refuges, firebreaks, and improvements to our national parks.

Rural Electrification Administration (REA) This agency provided electricity for rural homes and farms.

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) By constructing housing projects in the inner cities, the FHA created affordable housing for low-income families.

1934-1940's Department Of Interior Homesteads This organization provided subsidized housing for homeowners who agreed to work the land as dairy and truck farmers.

1933 Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) The FDIC insured bank deposits against bank failures.

1933 Public Works Administration (PWA) This agency provided thousands of construction jobs all across the country. PWA workers built swimming pools, highways, bridges, band shells, hospitals, schools, tunnels, and dams to irrigate land and provide cheap electric power. Every county in America (except 3) had at least one PWA project.

1933-1934 National Recovery Act (NRA) This agency, using the eagle as its symbol, controlled prices, wages, working hours and working conditions.

1935-1943 Works Progress Administration (WPA) The WPA provided work for artists, writers, composers and musicians. Murals were painted on public buildings, symphonies and plays were written, and literary projects were undertaken.

1934 Indian Reorganization Act This agency reassigned reservation land, organized tribes into self-governing bodies, and stopped forcing the Indians to assimilate into white culture.

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) The TVA worked on improvements and dam-building projects to bring cheap electric power.

Mexican repatriation Between 1931 and 1934, America used threats, propaganda, and the offer of free transportation to send Mexican-Americans back to Mexico, thereby reducing the burden and opening up more jobs.

"Fireside Chat: "We had a bad banking situation. Some of our bankers had shown themselves either incompetent or dishonest in their handling of the people's funds. They had used the money entrusted to them in speculations and unwise loans. This was of course not true in the vast majority of our banks but it was true in enough of them to shock the people for a time into a sense of insecurity and to put them into a frame of mind where they did not differentiate, but seemed to assume that the acts of a comparative few had tainted them all. It was the Government's job to straighten out this situation and do it as quickly as possible -- and the job is being performed."

Land speculation
During the 20's, land booms in California and Florida brought builders and developers by the hundreds. Soon, the supply of homes far outnumbered the buyers, and the land booms became a bust. These companies couldn't repay their loans and went bankrupt.

Easy credit
The automobile industry introduced the practice of buying expensive items on installment plans, and credit was being extended to just about everyone.

Franklin D. Roosevelt's Drought Relief Program offers farmers financial help: cattle are purchased at a fair price and hauled away, and the meat is distributed to hungry people nationwide. It's a program formed of honorable intentions, to be sure, yet it’s flawed in its execution. Though it’s saving many people, the fact remains that not all of the herds are taken. Large numbers are being slaughtered and wasted, sometimes even half the herd. Cows deemed "unfit for consumption" are led into a pit and shot, and then their carcasses quickly buried. These are animals that are simply too small or too thin to yield prime cuts of beef. And presumably this is done by federal mandate as it is being backed by law. Homeless families starving in the same vicinity [shanty towns & hoovervilles]look on as large quantities of meat are wasted. (Re:Cash for cows)(Excerpt taken from Rainwater)

Unemployment stats:
October 1929: 700,000
November 1929: 1.5 million
March 1930: 3.2 million
Later in 1930: 7.5 million
1931: 8 million
1932: 12 million
1933: 25 percent of the work force

RUS's Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) and NTIA's Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) are intended to expand broadband access and adoption in America, advancing the goals of the Recovery Act by creating jobs and stimulating long-term economic growth and opportunity. (Roosevelt's Electrification-REA)

Obama Agrees to Give $1000 per Individual to the Native Americans for the Use of Their Land

Obama Gives A Gift Of Art To "Summiteers" (G-20)- a gift of art to the world leaders in attendance. The art, glass trees. (WPA)

Our leaders allow History to repeat itself and then offer up the same flawed "been-there-done-that" solutions. Change through Hyperbole.

Here is an old thread with an even older booklet. Written in 1938 about the New Deal, called “The Revolution Was”. It is ALL happening again 70 years later.

The following excerpt can probably be excerpted from various Obama speeches, but they are from FDR and the New Deal:

EXCERPT: In his first inaugural address, March 4, 1933, the President said: “Values have shrunk to fantastic levels;.....the savings of many years in thousands of families are gone. More important, a host of unemployed citizens face the grim problem of existence, and an equally great number toil with little return.... Yet our distress comes from no failure of substance.... Nature still offers her bounty.... Practices of the unscrupulous money-changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.... They know only the rules of a generation of self-seekers.... Yes, the money-changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of that restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.”

There was the pattern and it never changed. The one enemy, blameable for all human distress....The money-changer in the temple. This was a Biblical symbol and one of the most hateful. With what modern symbol did this old and hateful one associate? With the Wall Street banker, of course; and the Wall Street banker was the most familiar and the least attractive symbol of capitalism.

Therefore, capitalism, obliquely symbolized by the money-changer scourged out of the temple, was entirely to blame; capitalism was the one enemy, the one object to be hated. But never was it directly stacked or named; always it was the old order that was attacked. The old order became a symbol of all human distress. “We cannot go back to the old order,” said the President.

The more you read, it actually becomes “spooky” even down to Roosevelt's Tree Army in every twist of detail..so Obama passes out “glass trees” to G-20 Summitteers!..cash for cows..Anerican Indians reparations etc..Voters back politicians caught cheating - Biden plagiarizes speeches (Neil Kinnock), tax cheats handle financial responsibilities, spousal cheats..why are we even shocked when it all fails?

Have seen that picture a million times (well a few); but really saw it for the first time in your post. That picture of Change should be a flyer nailed on every fence post across America.

..always on Lower Wacker in Chicago there were homeless people sleeping, hanging out. Those were in the "good times" with low unemployment. There will always be those that remain homeless because of mental illness, drug-alcohol related or just "want to". There always was the Life of the Hobo, catching a train to the next stop.

I believe Tiffany himself fancied himself a hobo and to those that fed him along the way--a surprise & received a gift after he got back home. There was glamor in being a hobo or tramp in those early days. Shed all the BS that surrounded one with money.

You can't always judge a book by its' cover.
