Ford Mustang is still cool after all these years
hosted ^ | Dec 16 | ANN M. JOB

Now 45 years old and revamped for 2010 with new styling and more powerful V-8, the "pony car" that debuted in 1964 is strikingly muscular, more energetic than before and thoroughly cool for a modern buyer.

You dont even have to pretend to be Steve McQueen, the lead actor in the 1968 film "Bullitt" who famously drove a Mustang in one of Hollywoods best chase scenes, to enjoy the new Mustangs unique persona.

I didn’t know Jeremy Clarkson was a Freeper?

I resent being compared to that pretentious tea-drinking inbred.

But, since those guys seem obsessed with going around corners really fast....it isn't a surprise they didn't like the Mustang.
Usually in the eyes of the Euro-Trash if it's American it must be crap.

LOL. No offense intended. You have to admit that your comment was the same as what Clarkson has been saying about every American car for the last 20 years. Despite Clarkson’s anti american attitude, Top Gear is one of my favorite shows.

Remember the Mustang II and the early 1980s Mustang “revival”?

Unfortunately... it gave me a new appreciation of the Sunbeam Alpine GT.

I loved it when they put the 500 on the dyno, and the little guy took a black sharpie and crossed out 500 and marked 489 over the white lettering.

Clarkson did pick the ZR1 as his car of the year, despite loathing Corvettes in general.

And their trip to the Salt Flats with the ZR1, CTS-V and the Dodge SR8 was amazing. They loved ALL the cars, which was quite amazing.

Great show and some of the most entertaining stuff on TV.

The 2010 looks like a Camaro IMHO. Or visa versa.

“Whenever list the greatest American cars of all time the Mustang has got to be on the list.”

Indeed. When my husband came back from Viet Nam, he bought a 64 1/2 fastback...baby blue with black pin stripes and spinner wheels.(Though there is controversy over the fastback being produced in 65 not 64) Mercy, it was hot! We decided to sell it for a station wagon and have another baby....shoulda kept the car!! lol

At the end of the show he said America had made three great (or words to that effect) cars.

I suspect these words were uttered under duress. Maybe the State Dept wouldn't give them back their passports until they saw a final cut of the program.

They really don't like American cars.

terminators are amazing.
too bad they tend to get hot when road racing. they have a great suspension for it (IRS).

Check out “Year One” retro-mods

SPEED Channel often features them

A “Smoky” Pontiac Trans-Am series has been made

All the body panels, bumpers, interior goodies, trim, suspension and brake updates - rear-coil for MoPars - etc.

It only takes money

A Barrett-Jackson Auction mid-50s T-Bird or late 60s Camaro restoration or retro-mod can (often) be bought for less than a dumb new Toyota Sushi-SS or Honda Uglyville-GT

-

Original “colors” are available - but FED Regs make water-based clearcoats the thing now

We built/swapped AC-(Bristol)-Vettes in Florida before Shelby saw and copied them a few years later with smaller slower Ford SB engines)

No heat problems whatsoever.
