MFJ-1800

WI-FI ANTENNA, 2.4GHZ, 15DBI, 16 ELES

Price: $29.95

This one works very nicely and is cheap. The range is several miles with a clear line of sight. I’ve got 2 of them.

Why not quit your current job and apply for a position at the restaurant?

Are you a wi-fi antenna? If so, then I guess they work.

I just recently bought an iPhone and it was always asking me if I wanted to join this or that Wi-Fi network.

Your iPhone's default WiFi setting is to sniff out WiFi AP's and ask if it's okay to connect. You can turn that off if you like. The icons that come up in the list will tell you if it's a locked AP or public.

Sometimes it's annoying, it pops up as you're driving (someone else is actually driving) along somewhere, when you're not interested in connecting or won't be there long enough.

Other times it's nice to have it let you know. Like you visit the neighborhood pub or restaurant and they have a public AP. Once you tell the iPhone it's okay to connect to a particular site, it will remember it and automatically connect when you're in range.

In our house the access point is upstairs, one end of the house. ALmost no signal in family room downstairs using built-in antenna. Inexpensive external antenna increased signal significantly, making it usable.

Kinda. The approach that worked for me was a wifi usb device that has an extension wire allowing me to position the entire device at any given ‘sweet spot’.

You were saying ...

Coincidentally, the cafe owner that Peterson was leeching WiFi off of didn't even realize that what Peterson was doing was a crime at the time. Neither did the police officer. "I had a feeling a law was being broken, but I didn't know exactly what," Sparta police chief Andrew Milanowski told the TV station.
And hence a perfect reason for following any competent attorney's advice -- "never ever talk to the police"... LOL... That was the big mistake the guy made...

Just so everyone knows... ya don't need an attorney to refuse to talk to the police. But, if the police are pressing you, then you might want to get one. Otherwise, never talk to the police under any circumstances...

And with the police always looking for a charge to put on someone (Hey! It's their job... LOL...), the best advice that you or I or anyone can get is to never ever talk to the police under any circumstances, anywhere at anytime...

Talking to the Police by Professor James Duane

Professor James Duane’s now famous 5th Amendment lecture - popularly known as “Don’t talk to the police!” - has amassed a considerable internet following. The lecture, given as part of Regent Law School’s spring preview weekend.

That’s great advice. And, yes, a few cops are always looking for something, anything, to bust you for. The last time I was pulled over, ten years ago, was for a cracked rear window.

Uh, it was a convertible, with a plastic window...hello?

Thanks, been in business 21 years!!

These home made antennas use an external usb network adaptor. Would this external wireless adaptor be used along with the existing wireless card/adaptor already being used in my laptop. Could they conflict or mess up my computer.

First, you read the bible of DIY wifi antennas...
then you decide if you should DIY or buy a commercial product:
