Simultaneously increases nutritional value of the milk & fights global warming
The first program in North America to naturally decrease global-warming gases caused by cows burps (enteric emissions) has been announced by environmental pioneer Stonyfield Farm, the worlds leading organic yogurt company (www.stonyfield.com). An unexpected benefit of the program is that it also significantly increases the nutritional value of the milk.
This is a watershed moment for the U.S. dairy industry, said Stonyfield President and CE-Yo Gary Hirshberg. By changing the feed we give our cows, we can simultaneously reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve milks nutritional content in a way that may help reduce cardiovascular disease and obesity.
The Stonyfield Greener Cow pilot program began in late 2008 with 15 Vermont Organic Valley farms that supply the milk for Stonyfields yogurts. The company learned about this approach from its global partner, French-based Groupe Danone. Stonyfield had been measuring its carbon footprint for over a decade, and had known that milk production was the biggest part of its footprint. While it has developed programs for emissions from growing feed for cows, manure, transportation, and farm energy, handling its greatest source of milk emissions the natural digestion of the cow was a challenge.

ping so I can tell my brother how to decrease production...
Haha....I almost thought this was a joke... for one thing, their yogurt is just ok, so if this improves the taste I won’t laugh too hard. I much prefer Brown Cow (which stoneyfield owns now) or Seven stars
You have to fall down laughing at this stuff.
Just don't burp.
No more pizza for him, eh?!!
Try the yogurt at Trader Joe’s. They have the cream-on-top variety, which I just love.
he’s a dairy farmer...
Yeah, the cream-top yoghurt is delicious. Nothing but full-fat for me, baby.
A stinky dairy farmer ?
Sorry, your original comment was so ripe for the picking.
Thank you white man! You're allllllwhite!
Yes, the premise of “enteric emissions” superheating the globe is ridiculously comical on the face of it. It is, however, somewhat exasperating when the lemmings accept the absurd premise.
I am exasperated, too, with “green-this and green-that” everywhere I turn these days, so posting this and laughing is my escape valve, although it doesn’t abate the mass craziness at all.
We can’t get Brown Cow around here anymore. And Stonyfield is the only one that isn’t Fat Free carp.
Check the sides of Stoneyfield and Brown Cow containers. They both donate 10% to environut groups. Some U,N. crap.
DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM Stonyfield Farm!!! They will go out of business, all there cows will be killed and sent to the glue factory and the earth will be saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOYCOTT STONYFIELD FARMS PRODUCTS, FOR THE GOOD OF THE EARTH!
How about I cut out the ‘Yogurt Middleman’ who sends a portion of his profits to idiot EnviroWeenie causes, and just kill and eat a cow instead? ;)
