Recent headlines seem lifted directly out of an Ayn Rand novel. President Obama decries the fat cat bankers on Wall Street. Harry Reid attacks insurance companies for making too much profit. House Democrat leaders call Tea Partiers Racist, Nazi, Gun Nuts. How about this nauseating statement made by Army General George Casey after the Muslim terrorist attack on Ft. Hood?
"As great a tragedy as this was, it would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty as well"
Each of these headlines might well have been uttered by an Ayn Rand character.

An epic demonstration of the inverted morality that Rand described was on display in Copenhagen last week as the worlds worst most evil dictatorsMugabe and Chavezpartnered with the worlds most visible and misguided progressivesAl Gore , Gordon Brown, Barack Obamain an orgy of depravity.

I read AS the second time during the weekly book club thread.
A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
By spreading this definition around, perhaps we can employ one of the more effective methods of deflating and defeating the fools who practice and promote it: RIDICULE.
Unless stopped and soon PC will DESTROY Western Civilization -- if it hasnt already.
PASS IT ON!!
THEN PASS THE KOOL AID!!
Read it AND “The Fountainhead.”
And does anyone here know the status of the film allegedly in production of “Atlas Shrugged?” I recall that about 10 or so years ago, it was widely reported that one of the networks — CBS I think — was in production when it was halted lest we proles get uppity ideas and make trouble.
And if you’ve never been exposed to Taylor Caldwell’s work, she’s another female writer who explored the working of the elitist establishment’s war on freedom, here’s a Reader’s Digest sampling:
First we shall take eastern Europe, then the masses of Asia. Then we shall take that last bastion of capitalism, the United States. We wont have to attack. It will fall like an over-ripe fruit into our hands. V. Lenin
When we go to hang the last capitalists, they will compete to sell us the rope.
V. Lenin
STARRING KARL MARX and BARACK OBAMA!
(Ohh, that was redundant!)

I have read it more than once. The first time I was in my early thirties. It completely changed my life.
My husband and I just recently listened to “Fountainhead” on CD while on a car trip. ( We had both read the book in our thirties.)
I also recommend “We the Living”.
galt bump
There is also a large group here on FR that read it together and dissected each chapter, right here on FR this past year.
I was listening to “The Fountainhead” during a long trip with my husband who had not been following the story. He came into it when Roark and Gayle were getting close. Finally after Gayle offers to run a bathe for Roark my husband looked at me and seriously asked if this was about a couple of fags.
Watch the movie - best one of Gary Coopers - and Patricia Neal and Raymond Massie.
Spells out what the MSM has long been
You should round out the set with a reading of my favorite of the four... Anthem.
My mom gave me Fountainhead when I started architecture school because she thought it was about architects. Changed my life.
Anthem is a short read. I used to read it when I was stuck on a design project. Chapter XI never fails to send shivers down my spine... or a thrill up my leg... so hard to keep up with the latest phrases.
I should try reading Anthem again. I last read it as a teen many decades ago.
I'm taking a tag too...
Cover to cover. I’ve never been so angry reading a book in my life. Required reading for my kids. My spouse won’t read it because all she needs to know she learned in liberal arts colleges. My grandma used to say,”If you make your bed, you have to lie in it.”. Smart woman. At least my oldest boy ribs her about NPR. A lib with her brain exploding is not a pretty thing.
