Like years past, this one has been a whopper for high-profile philanderers. Psychologists aren't surprised, as guys are wired to want sex, a lot, and are more likely than gals to cheat. The behavior may be particularly likely for men with power, researchers say, though they point out that despite the genetic propensity to sleep around, cheating remains a choice, not a DNA-bound destiny.
The list of powerful individuals whose marital transgressions came out this year includes Tiger Woods, David Letterman, former senator John Edwards and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.
The obvious question, perhaps most perplexing when it comes to wealthy men who had beautiful wives and seemingly enviable lives: "What were they thinking?"
Turns out, they may not have been thinking consciously about the acts at all.
"I'm guessing these things don't happen at the forefront of their brain," said Scott Reynolds, assistant professor of business ethics at the University of Washington in Seattle. "They aren't things he sits down and calculates out. It's in the background."
Even if their brains did register the infidelities, high-profile philanderers have so much power and control over their lives they likely couldn't imagine getting caught, scientists say. And with past as their guide (wins on the links for Woods and the Hill for Edwards), even if they did get caught, they could control the fallout and stay on top....

Women do the choosing.
That cute...Would she ever say:
...despite the genetic propensity to homosexuality*, it remains a choice, not a DNA-bound destiny.
*I do not buy this, but she and her types do.

Are you blaming it on the woman then?
I'm merely pointing out the fact that more men would cheat than actually do cheat, if they were given the opportunity.
"Opportunity" in this case means a woman throwing herself at you.
Not that I have any personal experience with that.

Cliff Notes version:
The little head rules the big head.
LOL, that’s it.
I’ve heard it stated as “men have 2 heads but only enough blood to run one at a time”.

And do you think a woman in the same attractive situation who, propositioned by a man, would jump on that thang and blame it on the man?
No. Just more likely to be confronted. The author might spend some time listening to testimonies in an AA hall or a Celebrate recovery program.
Not only do women cheat as often as men, they cheat with same sex partners more often than men.
Who does she think men cheat with? (hint: it takes two)
God gave us a penis and a brain, but only enough blood to run one at a time.
Robin Williams
If a man cheats, it is because he is weak.
I believe there can be blame for each party in a marriage for the circumstances that lead to one party straying — i.e. if he’s not getting any attention from the wife, he’s more likely to seek it out elsewhere (unless the cheater is just a scumbag — this stuff only works if he’s a good man).
But, the actual cheating is because of weakness of character and lack of integrity of the indivual party that cheated. A man should be strong enough to honor his commitment regardless of whether he’s getting any from the wife.

I have no idea what that sentence means.
All I said was that women do the choosing.
Most women would find it fairly easy to screw around if they wanted to. Men are always willing.
Most men would not have nearly the success rate that most women would have.
Bravo Sierra! Opportunity doesn't change a man's integrity.
I, and several of my friends, have had “opportunities,” as you call them, over the years, and while flattering, they didn't make us betray our wives.
In my case, three different, very attractive, women have made advances/invitations to me over the years. Yet, it's so easy to politely say: “I don't think my wife would appreciate it.”
That simple line, or others like it, immediately corrects the situation.
You are a superior human being.
Would you like me to kiss your ass some more, or is self-righteous ego satisfied?
letterman is not powerful.
