She has to support McCain. Forget what he did or didn't do later, he put her on the map. (Same with Scott Brown; the GOP told him to take a hike, but McCain and Giuliani supported him.)

Similarly, thank God she didn't come to Massachusetts, or we'd be talking about Senator-elect Coakley. Palin is loathed by the libs here and they'd have gotten their uninspired butts out to vote against her.

The story most people here don't seem to want to talk about is that Brown won because he dealt with what IS as opposed to what we'd LIKE to be true. And the truth is, Palin isn't as beloved in the country as she is by folks around here. Also, Brown is a FISCAL conservative, and a social...moderate, at best.

We may have to accept that abortion and other social causes simply won't be on the radar for awhile. Yet this may in fact be what will bring a return to the focus on social conservatism; it's amazing how young people are turning out to be pro-life.

If we can establish the GOP as the party of smart budgets and cutting taxes, we may be able to them move the conversation to other issues which, were they issues in this particular election, would have ended with a Brown loss.

How would Sarah Palin have caused any harm in MA ?

No offense, but you don't know diddly about this state until you've actually lived here awhile. She would have rallied the libs--who LOATHE Palin--to come out and support Coakley.

So, it is about social issues ?

Are you saying that if Palin were pro choice, or a lesbian, she would be in better political shape politically ?

is that what America is now ?

After the week her boy has had, it’s the least she could do. She must be paranoid that they’ll offer her gig to Sarah.

Ironic I admired her for quitting, & I had looked forward to her being on FNC. But I question why, being she will never make it after being a journalist as a candidate. Was she ‘for’ SB? Anyone know? The little I heard of her, she seemed less than enthused about him & evasive in her responses

I see. You are giving up on her because you don’t think she’s a fighter. Yeah, I just hate it when people give up on someone at the first inkling of something askew from their idea of perfection.

A Conservative could not help but be very happy with Sarah’s first speech.

Like most politicians, she has limited breadth and depth, but I think her most limiting factor is her perspective being from that small town, like a mom who ran for mayor, etc. Even if over the next 20 years she got enough business management and international politics experience, essentially just more “time in the bottle”, even then a good President still must have the old internal confidence that only certain people will ever come to possess. I’m talking about the confidence of one who, during a crisis of epic proportions, never for an instant has fear of their own lack of preparation; they simply work on the task at hand, like a master craftsman works versus an apprentice. After 20 years in the bottle, will she become a Thatcher or a Reagan ? When I see a leader emerge, then she’ll have my support. A President needs to be familiar but not concerned with the trappings of power; always simply envisioning and then actually leading _someplace_. One needs the vision, then to be 100% comfortable in directing the way there, including directing many “heavy hitters”. Would she be confident in _managing_ at such a high level ? Zero clearly is a faker, and people at the top of industry and government know it. It’s difficult to manage someone who knows their field extremely well and you are a novice. Some may take extreme liberties. But great leaders have a remarkable talent for managing other high-level leaders.

We should not want a Conservative in the White House just because they’re a Conservative and they appear familiar to us.

If this is an example of your reading comprehension, you might want to stop posting vanities.

Thankfully, no.

I hope Brown is very careful with his choice of pals in the Senate. We don't need anymore Rockefeller Republicans, thank you very much.

I read your post.

and what I took from it is that you think social conservatives wont be able to win for a long time. so social issues should be left on the back burner ? maybe I took it wrong.

I have had a few drinks
