National Center for Science Education ^ | February 3, 2010

Mississippi's House Bill 586, which if enacted would have required "scientifically sound arguments by protagonists and antagonists of the theory of evolution" to be presented in the state's schools, died in committee on February 2, 2010, according to the legislative website. In 2009, the bill's sponsor, Gary Chism (R-District 37), introduced a bill, HB 25, requiring biology textbooks in the state to include a hybrid of two previous versions of the Alabama evolution textbook disclaimer; that bill also died in committee.

Every now and then, rationality wins.

There is no scientific refutation to TToE.

LOL!

It's no wonder that U.S. kids are rated LOWER and LOWER in Science and Math when tested against the 30 industrialized countries of the world. I am referring to the TIMSS exam. The U.S. consistently sinks lower and lower. The U.S. is now around 28th place out of the 30 industrialized countries. Junk and pseudo science is nothing to be proud of not is it "rational". Objective evidence doesn't support it either.

Yes the 27 Industrial countries that are higher than the United States teach Evolution. The kids in those countries don’t have any of this creationist nonsense that’s dragging down ours.

Actually the successful schools that actually educate, teach the chemical, physical, biological and geological sciences uncluttered with religious propaganda.

Disappointing.

Requiring "antagonists of the theory of evolution" to present "scientifically sound arguments" strikes me as entertaining.

Watching Behe perform "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on the seal-horn in Kansas was enough for me.

“Creationists come in and try to redefine science in 3..2..1...”

LOL!

It is the evolutionists that defy the very rules they worship. Evolution is the RELIGION. Objective science, less the circular reasoning the evolutionists require, points to order and intelligent design.

No matter how many times you toss a car parts up in the air, they will not come down assembled as evolutionists would like you to believe. Hey, if you want to believe this; you go right ahead.

Thank you for proving me right. You’re a little late -— more like on the “4...”

Never have I seen anyone so concisely state both a complete misunderstanding of science AND a complete misunderstanding of TToE.

May I use it as an example? It really is great.

Two years ago I would have supported placing both theories in the schools. Thanks to nutcases abusing FR I since have received a thorough education in the blind fanaticism and general indifference to reality and reason held by the extreme anti-ToE crowd. GodGunsGuts did not spam in vain after all.

Every now and then even state legislators do something right. Good for Mississippi.

I thought based on your post in 4 that you understood science.

I should have read and comprehended your post and tag line.

My bad.

Please return to your previously scheduled willful blindness, already in progress...

It is why we are losing our leadership in science in the world. *sigh*

Don't know what TIMSS exam you're thinking of. The latest results (2007) show US fourth graders at #8 out of 36, and eighth graders at #11 out of 48. And are you under the impression that the countries rating higher than us--Singapore, Taipei, Japan, England--don't teach evolution?
