Here is video of Rhode Island Democrat Rep. Patrick Kennedy personally announcing his decision not to seek re-election to the House of Representatives this fall. Kennedy said his like was now going to take a "new direction," and he thanked the people of Rhode Island for the opportunity to serve.

Patrick Kennedy was first elected when he was 27 years-old. His personal history was already one of scandal and disgraceful behaviour. The media cleaned or covered it up and ignorant voters were seduced by the Kennedy ‘misstink’ for two more decades.
The media’s sympthatetic reaction to his *resignation* should be compared to how Sarah Palin’s exit was ripped apart.

That looks more like a campaign ad than a resignation, or withdrawal. He doesn’t even use good English! He refers to “he and his brothers” (used in the objective tense). It should be “him and his brothers”, or “his brothers and him.”
Then, he launches into a litany of thanks to various people who helped him “advance the cause of my family”. Really? I thought he was supposed to be representing the people of RI?
Did Patrick Kennedy ever write a piece of legislation in the 2 decades he was in Congress? Or, was Congress just a sand box for him to play in and to avoid having a real job?
Cousins Rob’t. Jr and Joe have very lucrative “non-profit” gigs going that require much less work than running for an actually contested election. Patches will segue into one of these scams.
