Attention, romantics. Wondering if your guy has already ordered your Valentine flowers, booked theater tickets or a romantic dinner? Depends where you live. Maybe.
The folks at Couponcodes4u.com, which aggregates on-line deals and discounts for hundreds of U.S. e-tailers, claim "three-quarters of male New Yorkers" -- that would be approximately 7 million of them, thank you -- have already bought or ordered something for their partners, making the Empire State "home to the most the most thoughtful men in America."
Well, maybe, if the survey sample included every gent who just received an AIG or Wall Street bonus, and excluded Bernie Madoff, currently in the slammer.
California, meanwhile, is home to the nation's "least thoughtful" men. Some 9 million lolly-gagging guys, just over half the state's male population, will "probably" wait until Sunday, Feb. 14, to buy something, anything, "as opposed to putting thought in beforehand," says Mark Pearson, managing director of Coupon Code's London-based parent company, Markco Media.
The other nine Top Thoughtful states -- based on 5,000 responses on the Website from those who use the site to take care of their Valentine posies and nighties -- are Illinois, Connecticut, Washington, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Texas, West Virginia and Rhode Island.
"You can't forget the day anymore. You need to plan ahead because Valentine's Day is everywhere," Pearson said by phone from London, where he has already ordered "flowers, chocolates and a balloon" for his sweetie there.
Oh, and one last survey factoid: 90 percent of American males say they'll zip their lips if they've bought their partner a gift using an online discount coupon "as they would like them to think they'd spent more," notes Pearson.
Duh...
My husband will buy me flowers from our local florist and something for the farm from Farm & Fleet.
If he buys me that milk cow I want, he'll REALLY be in like sin!! :)
“three-quarters of male New Yorkers” — that would be approximately 7 million of them,
...of which 3 million are gay. What do they buy? Never mind.
I don't "lolly-gag". It's impossible to me to purchase anything pre-valentines day or my wife will find/claim it pre-valentines day, meaning I'll have to buy something on valentines day anyways because the pre-find/claim won't count because it wasn't on valentines day.
I’m a NY male. My wife and i go out many times over the year. She gets flowers randomly. We don’t ‘celebrate’ Valentines day. I find it insulting that i’m supposed to be reminded to show affection. My wife understands that as well.
We’ll go out for drinks tonight. As much a, hey how was your week, thing as a Valentine’s thing.
Valentines Day is more about our kids. They’ve been making valentines for grandparents and such. It’s more fun that way.
My husband already gave me all of my presents. He often orders online, and they wants to give them to me when they arrive. :)
Heh. :)
I think that’s a great plan. I love it when I get random gifts and signs of love. A single ‘day’ means nothing. :)
Mine starts bugging me on the FIRST of December to open my Christmas Presents, LOL! He hates that I want to wait.
I call it Hallmark day.
Hmmmmmm. What does your husband look like? :/
We’re all married to the same guy. They just change hair and eye color to fool us. (For a while, anyway...)
Oh...and if he has another wife that I don’t know about, I hope she’s as nice as you when I finally meet her, LOL!
LOL! Same here! :)
