With their awkward, lumbering gait, elephants moving at high speed are not the most graceful of animals - but are they walking or running?
Now scientists believe they have an answer: new research confirms that they do both - at the same time.
By observing elephants moving across a hi-tech track, the team found the hefty creatures run with their front legs but walk with their back legs.

They run like high school coaches - all they need are fifty keys hanging from a ring on their belts.
Don’t “gaited” horses (e.g. Tennessee Walking Horses, American Saddle Horses, etc.) do the same?
If their speed is 10 mph it’s probably walking.. if it’s 40 mph.. you better run.. preferably at at cross angles .
If they run with their front legs and walk with their back legs are they in fact dragging their ass?
