LUXOR, Pa. -- Humane Agents rescued a dog that was left to die inside a Westmoreland County trailer.
The dog was found living in a crate, lying on top of another dog that was already dead.
A veterinarian gave the dog a bag of I-V fluids and glucose, and she appears to be doing much better.
Kathy Burkley, Executive Director of the Westmoreland County Humane Society, said the dog has made a miraculous recovery. She seems to be extremely traumatized, although she seems very nice today. I think she is very happy to be here, Burkley said.
This wasn't the first time officials were called to the trailer in Luxor, where the dog was found.
Humane agents said the humane society has rescued 12 dogs from there in the past.

I just don’t understand people that do that to any animal...I think not all of us belong to the same human race..
So 12 other dogs were rescued from there in the past?Somebody needs to go to prison for a long time.

I’m with you, Farmer Dean.
Anyone that harms/neglects children or animals needs a good whuppin’ behind the barn! And then one in FRONT of the barn. And then one BESIDE the barn! And if they’re still conscious, we’ll drag ‘em INTO the barn!
Grrrrr!
It’s time to thin the herd.
no kidding! WTH took animal control so long from banning these folks from owning pets?
This is just horrendous. I never understood someone starving a dog. A dog will eat anything. You don’t have to have a lot of money for them.
I remember when times were lean in my house, the dog and I would share ramen noodles or mac and cheese. He loved me when no one else did, my Tootsie did. He even got to lick out the pot.
The more I learn about people, the more I love my dog.
Isn’t that the total truth....
There is always shooting them, or like in the old west when someone needed a killing, tie the foot into the stirrup with the guy on the ground and let the horse run for a bout a mile..whuppin takes too much energy. I don’t remember which Clint Eastwood movie it was but he had a piece of straw in his mouth and says Some people just need a killin.. Bang bang..
Pardon me, but are you the same “goat granny” who advocated giving meat soaked in anti-freeze to pit bulls?
I think you’re right when you say not all of us belong to the same human race.
And no matter how much animals are abused, when finally shown some love they return it with no hard feelings.......
I have also killed chickens and thanksgiving turkeys, shot a coon drown another coon that decimated my chicken coop and killed not only 1/2 of the coop, but a guinea and 7 baby turkeys...Did a mercy killing on 2 chickens that were torn apart but not dead, killed a possum that was raiding my geese nest and killed a snapping turtle in my pond that had caught a young robin by the foot and the robin couldn't fly away...Skinned dead goats, salted the hides and sent them off to the tanner, Yep, I am that goat granny....A chicken, turkey, coon, possum, snapping turtle Killer. I would do the same to any pit that threaten me or anyone else I was near to..
Animal abuse laws are too lenient, at least around here. Until they get tougher, we will be seeing more and more stories like this one.
A judge or magistrate can bar a person from owning any more animals, but these people get a hold of them anyway. Enforcement is difficult...costs money, which shelters (and municipalities) don’t have.
Your my kinda granny! :D
“It’s a hell of a thing, killin’ a man, you take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.” ~ Clint Eastwood, Unfogiven
And you save anyone and anything else he’s going to kill in the future!
I’ll be sure to tell Caption Obvious not to waste his time explaining the dichotomy you’ve expressed.
Next dog I have I will train to only take food from my hand and no one else’s. Antifreeze is a agonizingly cruel death, and there are way too many FReepers who think it’s a great way to get rid of a neighbor’s dog.
Good day, neighbor.
Keep your own animals on your own land and make sure they’re not a trouble to others. Problem solved. :)
