American Fork » Sen. Orrin Hatch has a message for the Tea Party movement: Work with the GOP or see conservatives lose more ground. "If we fractionalize the Republican Party, we are going to see more liberals elected," Hatch warned a crowd of 300 at a town meeting at American Fork Junior High School on Wednesday night, amid jeers from Tea Party supporters. Hatch blamed extreme conservatives for the 2008 defeat of Sen. Gordon Smith, a politically moderate but fiscally conservative Republican from Oregon. Hatch said if the Tea Party had not backed a constitutionalist candidate in that race, Smith wouldn't have lost to Democrat Jeff Merkley, whom Hatch described as "the most Photo Gallery Sen. Orrin Hatch town hall meeting liberal senator," by 45,000 votes. But Hatch's critics said he was not interested in listening to them. "I think you guys are as out of touch as you can get," said Sarah Beeson, of American Fork. Hatch, she said, appeared more interested in raising money for candidates than listening to what the people had to say.
Go away, Orin..let us do the work...
Not sure how the Tea Party is to blame, considering they did not come into being until 2009.
Time to retire, Booby ... you are way past your shelf-life date.
The original Tea Party was part of this country. We need to take it back.
Get out of the way Orin.
Nonsense. The ‘Right’ should have been doing this for years.
What has happened to Orin Hatch. I totally disagree with him!
Pretty much sums it up.
Orrin hates the TEA party because he’s part of the problem we are fighting.
Once again, the GOP could learn something from this situation or continue to remain ignorant and suffer for it. We see what Hatch wants to do.
The Tea Party movement is outside of the GOP. Hatchy Baby. If the GOP can’t find its balls, then let the men handle this.
THe GOP committed suicide on their own. not the Tea Party Folks.
As an Oregonian, I can tell you there was more wrong with Gordon Smith than his being a RINO. If I recall he had some “challenges” with hiring illegal aliens. Typical blue-blood. Come to think of it, “blue-blood” is an apt name for these republicans. They may have an R behind their name but flowing through their veins is blue-state blood.
Orrin is a nitwit. He’s not leading, he’s not following ....he needs to get out of the way.
An outstanding point that is lost on the spinator for sure.
He is more concerned about campaign money and federal action to dictate how the college football champion is determined. Gosh orrin, I had no idea that college football was in such a crisis...what will we do, WHAT WILL WE DO? You must save us all from this terrible situation, the country is hanging on your every word, our very lives, fortune and future of our children depends on you!
Buh, bye Orrin. Don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
Hey Orin, it may be time to go “spend some time with da family”. You are long past your sell-by-date.
