Anyone watching "The Kennedy Assassination: 24 Hours After" on the History Channel?

I watched part of it, was an adult when it happened. Kennedy went to Texas to mend fences and it didn't look like he was going to be reelected...Bobby hated Johnson and the Kennedy's always thought everything was theirs anyway..Johnson did the right thing by holding up the plane until he was sworn in...If not, he had no right to ride in AF 1 with the secutity that goes with it...All the Kennedy's hated LBJ (I was not a fan of of his after he became presidnet and started the Great Society and war on poverty. He was an ass when it came to Viet Nam also...Increase the military to something like 1/2 million and said on TV he was not going to be the first president to lose a war...He was a jerk, but the Kennedys have always felt entitled to whatever they wanted..

No sympathy for either family....it was common knowledge that they hated each other....jmho The swearing in on AF 1 was the only thing he did right, and Bobby K. would have liked to destroy him...Johnson did that by himself with the way he ran the war as CIC...

If I remember correctly, Jackies testamony was to be sealed until 50 years after her death...So not all the stuff has been declassified...

For years Bobby thought he was responsible for the assignation because he as Attorney General was taking on some big unions like the teamsters....Hoffa hated Bobby and made no bones about it...Union corruption was Bobbys favorite target.

Some of you younger freepers have no idea of the power of the teamsters under Hoffa. They could close down the whole country if they wanted...Independent truckers were killed oops had accidents all the time and rigs were burned regulary...

you are correct. LBJ's presidency after the assignation, left him open for 2 more terms. He was elected to the first but made such a mess of everything in the war, he refused to run for the second election...Went on the TV and stated I will not run for president and if nominated I will not serve...

I was in high school. My first thought was that Castro was behind it, and I was really concerned. Coming so close to the Cuban Missle Crisis, it was scary. When RFK accepted the official version, I thought he was just saving the USA from Nuclear War.

I was watching the TV when Oswald was shot, turned to my Dad and said, now we will never know for sure.

Later, I found out that Kennedy had several groups of enemies who were willing to assassinate him, so if not Oswald, it would have been someone. My Granny always thought Johnson did it, which I thought was crazy (but who knows now?).

I also never believed our Government would be involved in assassinations, but now I know we were. The Kennedy's were involved in so much crap, it's no surprise that he and his brother were killed.

LBJ left office as the second richest POTUS In history. Inflation adjusted Washington was a billionaire. LBJ had Johnson fence company that did all the bases in SE Asia. He was a major shareholder in Brown & Root which became part of Halliburton. They built all the bases in SE Asia including a huge port in Nam. LBJ made tons of money of Vietnam. Tons of defense contractors where in TX including Bell, North American/General Dynamics plus others. LBJ got a “piece” of everything.

The Teamsters and the mob got WV and IL for JFK. He dissed the mob in a major way after winning. JFK told Sinatra to get screwed. Frankie was no fan at that point. The Kennedys made a LOT of enemies. Ari Onassis had ongoing battles with them.
