Sleep is supposed to be a time of peace and relaxation. Most of us drift from our waking lives into predictable cycles of deep, non-rapid-eye-movement sleep, followed by dream-filled rapid-eye-movement (REM) sleep. But when the boundaries of these three phases of arousal get fuzzy, sleep can be downright scary. In fact, some sleep disorders seem more at home in horror films than in your bedroom.

I had sleep paralysis for almost two years. It’s scary. Don’t know why it started ... or stopped.
i have sleep apnea... i am not a likely candidate for it... i am a woman... i am not overweight... it happens during stressful times... and when i am not sleeping on my side... the thing is, i can tell when i stop breathing in my sleep... often, i am dreaming... and i realize in my dream that i am not breathing... i was 17 the first time this happened to me... in the beginning i would freak out and try to force myself to wake up... i now tell myself, “okay—i’m in this dream... i am not breathing... dreams only last a few seconds... i will awake from the dream when it’s over...” and i do... and i start breathing again... this does not happen often... just from time to time... there have been a couple of instances where my husband has awakened me because he heard me trying to call for help in my sleep... i think i will die in my sleep someday...
My little brother used to play baseball in his sleep.
He ran bases in his room and called the swings.
if you die in your sleep, then you are one very lucky and blessed person......most of us only wish that would be the way we die....
I used to sleep with my eyes open. And when I woke up my eyes would be dried out and vision blurred. Sometimes they would be so dried out my eyelids would be stuck to my eyeballs and I couldn’t blink.
Speak for yourself. I would rather die from being shot by a jealous husband.

I’ve had the sleep paralysis thing where I wake up because I can’t breathe because im face down in the pillow, but I can’t quite move yet. It takes 20 seconds or so before I can move enough to get my face out of the pillow.
I havn’t had that one for a few years.
Worst sleep disorder? Sleep defecating. Absolutely. Worse when not sleeping alone.
I’ve always thought that wishing to die in one’s sleep to be a strange wish.
It seems to me that .. If I were to think that I may die while sleeping .. I would develop a ‘severe phobia’ against going to bed!
I have the lovely syndrome described in the article as “exploding head”. Nice to know I’m not the only one. It is startling and then annoying as hell, when it sinks in that sleep has been delayed for who knows how long.

Demonic forces can cause this. Yea, yea, I know, in this country if you say demon, people think your nuts. But, if you go to South America or Africa and some other countries, and some in this country, understand the spiritual realm, they aren't in denial. They see the effects of demonic forces. I had this very thing happen to me over the course of about a year. When I was finally at the end of my rope, I was on my knees in prayer. Suddenly, I was surrounded by unconditional love, I knew in an instant that Jesus was standing behind me, I felt utter peace and joy, I felt the weight of oppression lift. I saw the demon that had been tormenting me. He looked like he was in shock, he backed away from me and disappeared. That was about 20+ years ago. It's never happened since and I now understand how to deal with them.
I used to get sleep paralysis coupled with hallucinations fairly frequently a few years ago. It went away for a long time but recently made another debut in the middle of the night. The real vivid ones can be scary, especially when you percieve an evil presence just outside your field of vision closing in on you as you try your best to snap out of it.
