So, how is this a "hate crime"? I was under the impression that "hate crime" laws only operate when a real crime has been committed; you know, like assault, battery, etc.
Does this mean that "hate crime" laws are really a step toward criminalizing thought?

Sounds like a setup to me. The unions hate Wal-Mart and are experts at sabotaging opponents.

Tinsley said her husband then called 911 to report what had happened.
Slow day in Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office!!

Tinsley said her husband then called 911 to report what had happened. And while he had them on the line he let them know that Mickey D's got his order wrong last week too.

Umm...by boycotting the store, aren’t these two “ladies” accomplishing exactly what the announcer wanted?

Try to imagine what would have happened if he had said this on the intercom:
"Would all white people please leave the store now."

I am betting on a disgruntled ex-employee. I think I have read that all Wal-Marts are set up on the same design. An ex-employee with a chip on his shoulder could very easily find a unwatched microphone for the time it takes to do something like this.
One of these days I will confess to my own misadventure with the 1MC mic when the silly Bosuns left it hanging on the portside quarterdeck...
Naaaaah....

He would get a 2 hour comedy special on HBO?

It’s not so much a hate crime as something akin to yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater, given the racially charged climate these days.

That’s probably more than likely who it was.
It’s an obvious prank. The guy who did it is probably not the least bit racist. He did it because he knew it would cause an uproar.

The unions hate Wal-Mart and are experts at sabotaging opponents. Sounds like something along those lines, for sure. I'd be interested in a followup on this. Libs do this sort of thing, also. If you ever watch Washington Journal on cspan (i know, i know, most freepers don't) you'll notice libs pretending to be conservatives calling in on the Republican line saying stupid, exaggerated things they believe conservatives stand for. Whats funny to me is they seem to believe conservative listeners can't tell the difference.

I'm familiar with the program. I think C-Span continues these call-ins for laughs.

That could be it. What's for certain is that the management didn't do it.

I hate this happened but at least it was in a “blue” state and not the south.
