It's Easterthat most pleasant of springtime holidayswhen children stuff themselves with marshmallows and stain their fingers with pastel dyes. In reality, of course, Easter is about something darker and more fantastic. It's a celebration of the final act of the Passion, in which Jesus rose from his tomb in his body three days after his execution, to reside in heaven with God. The Gospels insist on the veracity of this supernatural event. The risen Lord "ate barbecued fish [Luke] and walked through doors [John]," is how a friend of mine, an Episcopalian priest, puts it. This risingthe Resurrectionremains at the center of the Christian faith, the narrative climax of every creed. Jesus died and rose again so that all his followers could, eventually, do the same. This story has strained the credulity of even the most devoted believer. For, truly, it's unbelievable.

Is General Motors bankrupt in the afterlife?
But we get new bodies at the end of the age though.
The Bible says we will have a bodily Resurrection. So yes, we will have a body.
If a person is worrying about how they will look or feel or what age they will be, they are missing the point entirely
PRAISE GOD that it will be a NEW body.
Jesus ate in his resurrected body.
...which is good news for us Baptists!!!!
They already died and are there............everybody gets 72 Corvairs............
No.
Its a different realm. It is comprised of energy forms. The heaven principle can manifest here on earth which exists in the realm of form.It manifests through energy. Light , heat ,music, electricity, etc. rarely does it manifest through physical form , but it can do that as well through a physical form which can accomodate that energy.Thats how sainthood happens. Its that kind of form which can exist in the realm of form AND the realm of energy simultaneously. Rare but possible
Love is a kind of energy. It can act as a container to take you into that realm of energy, or what is known as "heaven".That realm has many names in many religions. Nothing else can be such a container, because every thing else is subject to the law of impermanance, except love.It exists as a diamond, it cannot be scratched, ,stained or degraded. It cannot be effected by impermenance.
It is your job to have such a container before you die. Some call it an empowered soul. Some call it bodhicitta. Some call it the "Compassionate heart of Christ". Whatever you call it , it amounts to the same thing. There are many different religious paths to accomplishing that container. Prayer is one, acts of grace another, and meditation still another.
I am very happy to have this precious opportunity as a human being.
No, wait a minute! I misinterpreted the GM Bankruptcy Scriptures! Everybody gets A ‘72 Vega!.................
I read that as God intentionally kept them from recognizing him. Not that his appearance wasn't recognizable.
"Luk 24:16 (KJ) But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. "
Luk 24:16(NIV) but they were kept from recognizing him.
I’m going to wait and see what happens.
I want to leave this broken body of mine behind. Kinda like the Edgar suit in Men In Black.
You must be some kind of Prophet! I actually used to have a 1972 metallic lime green Vega wagon! That car's existence may have actually transcended physical reality because that black crappy GM plastic seemed to stretch into infinity.
We will have new bodies, spiritual bodies, but they will also have some physical manifestation.
Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have (Luke 24:39).
I'm not sure it's really appropriate to call those an energy container. I wouldn't rely on non-JudeoChristian religions for information about the afterlife. Scripture says are new bodies are not made by us, but given to us by God.
Scriptures do talk about a new body. In Mark 9:4 Moses and Abraham appeared and were talking with Jesus and were seen in bodily form.
The other religions are false and shouldn't be relied on for any information about the afterlife. Notice also vs 46, appears to refute any claims such as Mormons or Hindu beliefs that we were spirits before becoming mortal.
1Cr 15:35 But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. 39 All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being" [fn]; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
It's the same result, isn't it? On the road to Emanus he wasn't recognized. In the room (where he first appears to his apostles) he wasn't recognized (St. Thomas had to be shown before he believed). Also, he wasn't recognized on the beach at first when he ate the fish breakfast with his deciples.
“Far From Heaven (will we have our bodies in heaven?)”
Nope.
My sister had a 1972 metallic lime green Vega sedan!...............It died a premature death at about 12k miles when all the oil leaked out.............
Why would there be a need for sex in paradise?
Bring on the fried chicken!
