It's a legal drama with a decent cast. The political jabs against Republicans started early on in the season. Then, a storyline started up with one of the lead characters, played by Christine Baranski, being pursued by a Republican. He sends her Sarah Palin's book. She sends him back that mock Palin book that libs made up. Okay, not bad. <\P>
On this week's episode, Baranski sees Palin giving a speech on tv, gets disgusted and turns the tv off. She finally gives in and goes out for dinner with the Republican. She tells him that she can't have a relationsip with him because, "You like Sarah Palin. She's the devil incarnate." This show has declared war on Sarah Palin, and it's been a running theme all season. Needless to say, my husband and I are done with the show.
Excellent. They are playing right into her hands, and they don’t even know it.
The ultimate issue, of course, is that in Hollywood, the angle you describe is accepted, while if a show was unbalanced going the other way, it would be "controversial".
I don't watch TV, only DVDs, so I control what I see. I didn 't even know this show existed until this thread. I have a feeling that's one reason every show seems to put this kind of bias out there, so their target audience will feel comfortable that "our kind" is making the show. It says something about the inability of people to ignore politics even in an entertainment situation. When my parents were kids, liberals and conservatives just made entertainment, and I'm sure assumed a mix of both would be watching it. Now, there's Us and The Enemy, and libs wanna make sure the unimaginative PC audience members are reassured that no evil conservatives are secretly indoctrinating them while they watch their silly shows.
How about a drama about a woman who goes out with a TV producer and gets smacked in the face? These people have no business lecturing anybody.
Have you ever watched any of the Law & Order franchise? It takes place in multi-ethnic, multi-racial NYC - but most of the bad guys are white-collar whites.
A TV heads-up for tonite on PBS- Masterpiece Classic is a world premiere of a new remake about Anne Frank, and it got four stars and an extraordinary review in the paper I read the other day.
You’re exaggerating. There’s balance between Baranski’s character and Gary Cole’s, and she doesn’t reject him out of hand because he likes Sarah, just jokes about it. You’re taking it waaaaaaaaay too seriously.
I’ll continue to watch it. I like Gary Cole’s character a lot and want to see where they end up going with the two of them.
I don’t watch television, and that is one of the reasons why.
My wife was laughing at some show and insisted I watch it...it was about two homosexual men raising an infant, and some guy whose entire family thought he was a clueless, buffoonish moron.
Then, last night she wanted me to come in and watch Tina Fey do Sarah Palin on SNL, and I said no-thanks, It was cute and funny for about the first five minutes when she did it in 2008, but...since then, it is neither original nor funny.
I simply don’t watch television anymore. I began to cut back in the mid nineties, and by 2001 I wasn’t watching it at all. I don’t miss it.
There was actually a great Jethro Tull concert on the Direct TV channel last night. I had forgotten how much I enjoy his music. I recorded on DVR, so I can watch it again.
I’m not exagerating or taking it too seriously. There would be balance if an equally vile statement was made about someone on the left. Baranski wasn’t joking when she said that Sarah Palin was the devil incarnate. She said it with hate and wan’t laughing, or even smirking. Continue to watch it. Suit yourself. The show is a liberal’s dream, a Palin hater’s paradise. I can imagine them, just loving it all.
Now, I suppose that would be okay to me. We don’t have cable television either.
This actually created problems for me when our television died about a year ago, and I suggested we buy a 60” Samsung LCD (because even though I detest television, I DO love movies, especially older movies)
Heh, we nearly had a fight (rare in our marriage) because she didn’t want what I wanted. Right now, she watches a small (18”) LCD from about eight feet away...:)
We will get the television after we pull all the carpeting up and paint the walls...
Maybe they’re hoping to get her to do a guest shot to confront the liberal with reality.
So the guy that get dumped by a lib P.O.S. is losing out? Sounds like a win to me!
Some people take TV shows a little too seriously.
Are you afraid that by hearing dialogue such as this you can be brainwashed to withdraw your support for Sarah Palin?
Ditto.
When you can’t dispute the facts, you commit character assasination and image distortment. This is the bane of existence for libs and progressives.
Julie used to look like this:
Ignore Clooney
Now, she looks like this:
And here's Famke Janssen:
“The Good Wife” ?
Seen posters about it on the subway, and that’s about it.
Never watched it before. No intention of ever watching it. Life is just to short to waste watching stupid, anti-conservative shows.
I watched the season premiere against my better judgement. Half way into the show Juliana Marguiles walks into her daughter’s bedroom and there were not 1 but 2 large Obama posters on the young daughters wall. Click.
This is why I won’t watch this crappy show.
