For many users of Facebook, the worlds largest social network, it was just the latest in a string of frustrations. On Wednesday, users discovered a glitch that gave them access to supposedly private information in the accounts of their Facebook friends, like chat conversations.

Facebook has become more scary than fun,
Oh sure. I try to link this to Facebook, and it gives me a “Page not found...” error. How unexpected.
I discontinued my Facebook account today. This was the last straw. Facebook is worthless unless you want to know what new ‘do’ your neighbor is wearing or how many cows someone collected at ‘Farmville’ or whatever. A total waste of time.
How did you try to link it? Go to the NYTimes site, and use the “share” module. Or just share the NYTimes link... I just did and it worked just fine.
without too much detail, all you need to know is a friend of a friend.
btw, it took me about five minutes to figure this out.
but i am a software guy.
You know you can block all the “game posts”. It’s far from a total waste of time, if you know how to use it...
However, I admit I am NOT liking how often they change privacy issues, and I don’t like how they have made some changes where the default is automatically the “public” option.
I’m the only person I know that doesn’t have a Facebook account. Just never saw the point in it.
Ironic.... I work in IT, and I’m one of the least ‘connected’ people you will meet. I stay connected to MY networks, and where I browse to on the intrawebs, and that’s just about it. I have no use for opening up my life to God only knows who.....or what.
I didn’t get around to buying a smartphone until a few months ago. I must say, it has to be one of the most useful things I’ve ever owned. Tethered to my netbook, I can get online virtually anywhere. I no longer have to be constantly mindful of the nearest hotspot when I’m on call.
Depends on how you have your settings... Although the other day when all of a sudden I saw my comments on someone’s link being broadcast as news on my daughters’ account (which did not used to happen - it wasn’t simply the text of so and so commented on so and so’s link — it was the WHOLE conversation...) I have to admit that I’m a little upset about that.

Agreed upon about the waste of time.... but it sure is fun reuniting with people you haven’t seen in 25 years!!
I'm a software guy and I'm 40.
Ping
It has been great reconnecting and keeping in touch with friends I haven’t seen in a long time. It definitely has its purpose. No need to spill your guts on it! :)
Yea.... I don’t really think GrandMa wants to see pics of you puking in the toilet on Spring Break!!!
That's what I joined for. But even then, they're gaming, talking about their new "do", "party night", "my kid threw up all over the bed last night", sheesh. Enough already.
I didn’t have much of a problem with this. Am I missing something?
