The Medal for Doing Nothing: The Purple Seinfeld
Like the Nobel Peace Prize?
Something like that. I was referring to the new “Courageous Restraint” Medal. The medal that is to be given to soldiers for endangering their fellow soldiers by doing nothing.
I think the General has confused the US MArine Corps with the Peace Corps.
Ain’t the same.
Maybe all the bunny huggers can form a real “Peace Corps” and let the soldiers, sailors and Marines come home.....
This became a classic meme because the program Seinfeld was not about nothing as it was about how a stand up comic got his material but when the characters did a spoof of the show within the show - they said THAT show was about nothing.

Sounds as though the “Everybody gets a trophy” mentality has hit the Pentagon.
It’s a medal that carries the implicit message: “Our troops have been killing innocent civilians with such wanton abandon that had to start giving them this medal in order to reduce the carnage.”
It’s a medal that’s really a SMEAR CAMPAIGN against the military.
I give you now Professor Twist,
A conscientious scientist,
Trustees exclaimed, “He never bungles!”
And sent him off to distant jungles.
Camped on a tropic riverside,
One day he missed his loving bride.
She had, the guide informed him later,
Been eaten by an alligator.
Professor Twist could not but smile.
“You mean,” he said, “a crocodile.”
“The Purist”
Ogden Nash
So, I’m supposed to call it “The Purple Jerry,” and hope that somebody has some idea what I’m talking about.
You’re right about that and that’s not funny. But I got a good laugh from “The Purple Seinfeld.”
I’m hoping it catches on. I think it could sink the idea (the idea of the medal).
And suppose a soldier does nothing, hoping to get a Purple Seinfeld, and a bunch of his comrades get killed. Does he get a Purple Seinfeld or a court-martial, or both?
Good question. What if the whole unit sneaks off to a bar instead of carrying out a mission? Do they all get a Purple Seinfeld then? Providing they don’t get into a fight at the bar.
Somehow, I think the color yellow would be more appropriate for this award.
Pep Boys is giving on away with an oil change this week end while supply lasts.
Facing the enemy with one's hands tied behind his back (by the government's ROE) does not make the individual soldier a coward, in my opinion.
Perfect Medal description - It must go viral!
