“If Dylan was 20 today, how would he feel about your company? Would he think the iPad had the faintest thing to do with ‘revolution?’ Revolutions are about freedom,” Tate wrote.

We can only have one definition of the word revolution! /s

Your childish moralizing of being closer to God than those who desire freedom is just another example of how simple you are.

Are you a Libertarian?

I am responding to Steve Job’s description of his iPad. I have not examined the operating system, nor do I plan to. I am assuming he knows what he is talking about.

Steve Jobs has the freedom to decide what to allow and not allow on his computer. You can’t take that freedom away from him.

The Constitution does not allow you to force producers to produce things to meet your preferences. You should read it.

Censorship is what a government does. You are claiming unless I don’t let anyone with an opposing viewpoint come into my house and express their opinion I’m censoring them and I’m a fascist? I never knew that.

But it IS another good reason to buy one;)

It’s Jobs’ product...if you don’t like it without the porn, don’t buy it.

Buy it, jail-break it, and blog about how.

Have never understood the “Apple” thing... They are a propriety group that makes it very hard for normal people to modify or upgrade their systems. That is why I can understand the PC crowd - at least they can make changes as needed.

Yeah I agree. I have an iPhone and it is a great little piece of technology that I primarily use as just a phone/GPS but I would never have a Mac as a primary computer for the reason you give.

You have but to read the invective being hurled at me to see how our fellow “conservatives” view freedom. I am pleased to see that some of us understand what liberty means.

That's hilarious in it's hypocrisy.

You would force Steve Jobs his right to do with his company's products what he chooses?

And you call him a fascist?

Porn dehumanizes people usually women and sometimes children. I always love how the left defends porn while they defend "women's rights." This is while the evil scum in the porm industrie(s) exploits and dehumanizes women in a horrific manner. They usually start in strip clubs then they get the girls hooked on drugs then it is porn or prostitution and it just gets worse. Profiting off of a person's misery is revolting. I realize some women want to be in front of a camera too but usually it is for money. As far as it goes with Jobs being a "facist" - people have a choice. If they do not agree with him - don't buy Apple products. Ignore him. He is not taking your rights away. BTW - I am not an Apple user and I usually find their cultists to be annoying. I am no fan of Bill Gates either. I do not bow to Jobs the "business genius" either. I do think it is really cool that he thinks children or a person's kids are important. How refreshing. He sounds pro-family to me. Good for him. I respect the guy a lot for this approach. If you want to see a real a*s - watch the Carly video here - you know the RINO Carly - saying how she and the other elites need to control the Internet. Eff her.

Absolutely...but we are free to buy what we want...at least for now...

I have — every word.

You confuse my consternation and condemnation with a call to action.

Please quote back to me where I have called for the forcing of jobs and his ilk to not produce this product. Don’t bother: I have not.

He is a fascist — but it is perfectly legal for him to sell to the weak-willed like you who cannot choose for themselves.

Well you certainly do not understand Christianity.

Christ calls you to a 100% submission to his will in your life.

That includes every facet, including political.

Which means in a nutshell, you fight for laws and actions, that reflect his will, not yours, in your own personal life, and in all those around you.

Your definition of Freedom is a cop-out from a Christian perspective.

I take it your Christianity isn't 100%.

Sounds like Steve is going a little dhimmi here. The telltale sign is when censorship is redefined as freedom, and “freedom from” replaces “freedom to.” This is the kind of proprietary “we know best” control that pervades the entire Apple philosophy.

What would happen if Jobs converted to the ROP and decided that caricatures of Mohammad were something his customers needed “freedom from?”

I won't buy from those who impose their morals on me. I love my iPhone but that can change at any time. It's not whether I like porn or not..it is somebody else telling me what I can or cannot view.

Apple is not restricting the websites that its users can go to. A user can go to any website on an iMac, MacBook, iPhone, iPod, or iPad. What Jobs is talking about is the programs in the App Store. The App Store in iTunes is not going to sell porno applications. Walgreens does not sell hardcore porno magazines, but I don't feel like they are restricting my freedom when I go there to buy a tube of toothpaste.

I also ask you to quote me where I have called for him to not sell his product.

Just as a handcuff-producer can sell as many of his product as people who find the need to use them on themselves, people like you can let jobs hand-pick what you can and cannot see. That doesn’t make it any less fascist. It merely makes you weak-minded and unable to choose for yourself.

Note: Reading is fundamental.

He is a fascist — but it is perfectly legal for him to sell to the weak-willed like you who cannot choose for themselves.

Fascism

1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

So here are the definitions of Fascism from Merriam-Webster.

So explain to me again how it is fascist of the CEO of a private company to decide that he is going to take the high-road of morality with regards to the products his company manufactures and sells?

Please, any train of logic will do.
