I’m not certain they had the flavor of boonie cuisine in mind when they came up with that quote, but I’ll accept it anyway.

When the time comes, I think I'll eat that last, after I've tested it on the cat...nope, I'll eat the cat.

Feed it to the cat, THEN eat the cat.

It made for an interesting Thanksgiving evening.

Did y'all have the Festivus "Airing of Grievances" a few weeks early?

A pressure cooker. is a valuable tool in the coming hard times.

That's the next item on my list. I was surprised to find that the Walmart one has a weighted gauge AND is $15 less than the one on Amazon which has a dial gauge.

Walmart had a “Learn to Can” kit this season - you use your own large stockpot, but there’s a canning basket and three jars and I think a funnel too. It was $10 so I got one for each of my sisters and my best friend. I wanted them to have the knowledge of how to do it.

Modern canned foods you need to be wary of BPA

Chemicalphobic nonsense. BPA has been used for more than 50 years now and prevents food spoilage that can lead to bacterial infection - especially the risk of of botulism. Any BPA that may migrate from these products only does so in very small doses has not been shown to cause ill effects in humans. The fact that you are able to detect a substance does not make it a hazard. The benefits of using BPA far outweigh any risks

I’m glad you like it. I don’t.

You fear it because you don’t know the first thing about it. You do have an opinion though, so you’ve got that going for ya. Chemistry is hard. Fear it.

I don’t fear it. I simply state fact. You are trying to escalate this for whatever pathetic reason you have.

You stated no fact(s) whatsoever. You said we needed to be "wary" of BPA. Why?

Anyone who believes we need to be "wary" of BPA obviously doesn't understand BPA. If you are "wary" of something you harbor some fear of it and all I'm saying is that your fear is irrational. Pretty self-evident.

You like making claims you can't support. I'm not looking to escalate anything. I'm merely pointing out that fact.

I, too, refuse Chinese garlic and get ***LIVID*** when that is all they have in stock at my Supermarket.

Remind me, again... what is it that they grow in Gilroy?

Older canned tomatoes, chuck em.

While in seminary, our church held a food drive for us for Christmas; we got canned food that was scary. The scariest was the canned tomatoes that had caused the lids and bottoms to bulge. We pitched them.

The Fed invented canning. And BPA. So they could stop an audit. Don'cha know.

I can't believe people send stuff like that. I won't send anything that's out of code, even though the codes are meaningless and I'd eat it myself. I don't want them to feel like they're getting castoffs.

I would eat everything, including all the free fruit cake that everyone gave me, I was the only guy I knew that would trade the useless peaches for the more substantive, main course cans, or a couple of cans of the higher calorie fruitcake. I was always desperate for calories.

My veggie garden will produce much more than we can eat at one time....if your wife is up to posting about canning using a pressure cooker, I’d really appreciate it. :)
