Kansas chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little has reached out to her counterpart at Nebraska, urging him to keep the Cornhuskers in the Big 12 Conference.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Gray-Little also said she planned to call Missouri chancellor Brady J. Deaton with the same message.

Nebraska and Missouri have both said they are interested in moving to the Big Ten, which could lead to the death of the Big 12 and leave Kansas and Kansas State without a BCS conference.

The 2 Kansas school are so screwed. Having one of the top historic program in basketball means nothing in comparison to football.

It’d be a shame to see the breakup of the Big 8 (the Big 12 is really the Big 8 plus the worthwhile Texas teams and Baylor)

True Dat.

I was a firm believer that NU would bolt to the Big Ten and as a Husker, I fully endorse the move. However, I'm thinking that NU will probably choose to stay put and keep the Big XII intact. Yes, they'll give up some big money, but NU may not be in it just for the money.

I can definitely see NU in the Big Ten, I'm just at a total loss of what they'll do though!

The TV revenue of the Big Ten Network pays schools TONS more money than in the Big XII. The Big Ten Network has many more viewers. I would assume the same will hold true in the PAC-10.

Nebraska would make about $12 million more per year in TV revenue in the Big Ten than the Big XII.

The big 10 has their own network with huge TV revenues....the PAC 10, if they add Texas will be able to command a TV contract similar to the Big 10 or the SEC...TV money is driving this whole restructuring of college football..

Everything TV touches turns to crap (kinda like Obama). Destroying college football tradition, NBA and NHL playoffs in freaking June, the list can go on and on.

So it is their own network? Ok that makes more sense. I can’t imagine that there are more football fans in any one area more than across Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska - since our kids start playing football as 5 year olds I think. ;^)

Yes. You're right, football fans of Tex, OU & NU are as loyal as they come, but the population base of the Big XII pales to that of the Big Ten or PAC-10 markets. It's all demographics...more viewers = more money.

The Big Ten not only hits high population areas like Illinois, Ohio and Penn, but also draws from other east coast areas. The Big XII just doesn't do that.

;o) I’d love to see NU play Mich, OSU & Penn St on a regular basis...at least now that they’re getting back to being competitive with anyone. That 7 year stint with Callahan & Co was painful!!!
