Sometimes it makes you wonder what exactly gets into a dogs
head. In this case a boxer mix is attacking his own shadow
on the floor. I guess this is how a dog shadow boxes.

This was very funny, but I think they need to put rugs on their floor, or the dog will go crazy. Reminds me of the reason they cut off the tail of some breeds, because they will chase their tail all day long.

That’s a bit amusing but, in all seriousness, that’s a very mentally ill dog responding to a canine version of profound paranoid delusions. The dog is a danger.

Why do you say that? I have seen many boxers and they are very good natured. They are not mean at all.

I think you are mistaking a boxer for a pit bull. Similar in appearance slightly, but big difference in their demeanor.

My neighbor had a large dog that loved to chase a red laser pointer. She would chase it along the floor, or up the walls.

But the dog was not stupid. She knew exactly ‘where’ the light was coming from. She would pick up the laser pointer and drop it in your hand, to try to get you to ‘play’ with her.

In this case, the dog seems to have made the association between the word ‘shadow’ being said, and playing the game for the humans.

My German Shepherd likes to chase a laser pointer.I wondered what she would do if she caught the light,so I stopped moving the pointer.Got a 4 inch square hole ripped out of the carpet,I keep it moving now at all times.

I had a Jack Russel that would do the very same thing. He thought his own leg was another dog coming to take his bone away.

My border collie mix loves laser chasing. It knows where I keep it and will sit and wait for me to take it out. It will look at me, then look up at the microwave, over and over until I go get it. It also chases its shadow. It is actually a very smart dog, unlike her lab mix sister ( dumb as a box of rocks ).
