College conference realignment isn't taking the weekend off.
Two media sources -- Jackson, Miss., television station WJTV and A&M blogger/radio host Billy Liucci -- report that Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive is meeting with Texas A&M officials today in College Station, Texas.
Meanwhile, The Oklahoman newspaper reports Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott met today with officials from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City, presumably to invite them to join his conference. Scott also plans to meet with Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, according to the newspaper.
Sporting News' Matt Hayes reported Thursday that the SEC will likely only expand with Texas and Texas A&M.
OU is still deciding whether to stay in the Big 12, which officially lost Colorado to the Pac-10 and Nebraska to the Big Ten this week. The Oklahoman reports athletic directors from the remaining schools will meet Monday in a last-ditch effort to save the league.
Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Saturday that his school

OU ain’t gonna sign on to face USC every year.
im a mizzou fan....this is a nightmare what’s happening to our conference. the television contract we put together a few years ago was waaaay to low and now teams are bailing for more money in other leagues. some B-12 teams are going to wind up out in the cold after this is all over and it just flat out sucks that it could be my school.
Playing Bama would be SO much easier....
Why not, Carroll’s gone, Reggie’s gone, Linert’s gone, Lyndell’s gone, USC’s post season is gone, Why not?
My Texas Longhorns do not seem to be out in the cold.
Word is going around that the remnants of the Big 12 are looking at the Mountain West to bring in teams ie Air Force and BYU
Why not? USC is toast for at least a decade and probably 15 years with those incredible sanctions.
A&M will take a beat down each week in the SEC.
I'm wondering if the NCAA didn't go too far with the USC sanctions. "Things fall apart, the center cannot hold." Ha ha! "The center..." Get it?
Mizzou started this whole mess. Alden pushed for about two years to join the Big 10. Now they got shafted and screwed the other members of the Big 12.
Father Tom Osborn showed he was the worlds biggest whore. He just couldn’t beat Texas so he destroyed the big 12 being the 2nd one out the door. Osborn didn’t give a dam about rivaly or tradition. What a fool Father Tom turned out to be.
SEC don’t care about that. They’re looking for new TV markets in the southwest
That’s true, but A&M does not bring the number of TV sets that Texas does. Moreover, A&M does not bring the desirable TV viewers like Texas.
You’re right but all the SEC cares about is the potential for new TV markets in the southwest
oops, sorry for the repeat
i agree that missouri was the first to say they’s be willing to move; mizzou has a long list of complaints with the Texas dominated big 12...they want nothing more than to be in the big 10 and out from under texas’ thumb. having said that, them expressing interest in the b10 after the commish of the big 10 said back in dec that they were going to expand didnt get us to where we are today. texas being jealous of NU getting a better deal than they have is what will break up the conf eventually. if missouri had been invited instead of NU, the B12 would/could have replaced MU without losing any sleep. texas and nebraska have been in a pissing contest since day one about who has the biggest wee wee. tom osborne has made no bones about his dislike for texas and vice versa.
A&M will take a beat down each week in the SEC.
They’ve been taking regular beatdowns where they are now. All they need is a first class Coach which they have not had since Bear Bryant. They’re recruiting is still good and if they had the added benefit of playing in the SEC it would be incredible. I hope Texas goes to the PAC 10 and A&M goes to the SEC. Texas should easily win that Conference the first few years they are there with USC being knocked down and out by the NCAA. The Aggies will be “re-buiding” for a few years but the future looks bright for ‘em if they solve the Coaching problem.
You got to love the way Missouri parlayed their invite to the Big 10 into an invite to the Mountain West.
